Believe God for your healing Part IV

The covenant of healing

Synopsis of Bible Study 1/26/11

Delivered by Bishop Walker III

It is important for us to understand that those of us who are saved are truly under a covenant. By this we mean you don’t have to accept anything beneath what God has promised you. Now what is a covenant? It is an agreement between two parties. It is always dependent upon two and it is not unilateral, which means there is a responsibility on the part of each party in the covenant. For example one person says I will do this and the other says I will do that and as a result things manifest. It is no doubt that God keeps his end of the bargain. He always keeps his covenant with us. It is never in question. What is in question however; is our willingness to keep covenant with God. Our lack of covenant is what often times prevents us from seeing full manifestation of what God has for our lives.

When we look at the covenant of healing, we have to recognize that we are dealing with two different ways in which God spoke. We are talking about the Old and the New. When we refer to the Old Testament we are talking about the Old Covenant and when we talk about the New Testament, we talk about the New Covenant. Israel was God’s chosen people as you know and God told Moses to tell Pharaoh to let his people (his chosen people) go.

Healing under the Old Covenant

  • Exodus 15:26 says 26And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee. – The children of Israel were under the task master of Egypt (under Pharaoh) and as a result, when God prepares to bring them out of bondage, God declares,”I am the one who heals you…:” This basically says if they did what God commands them to do (obey the commandments), then God says that none of the diseases that came upon their oppressors (the Egyptians) would come upon them.

Healing in the New Testament

Matthew 8:16-17 says 16When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick: 17That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses. – God’s desire or will for those of us who are in relationship with him, is that we will walk under this covenant of healing. Somebody declare this over your life, “I live, under a covenant of healing”. Why is this important? Remember we make a declaration “I am not the sick trying to get well, but I am the healed resisting sickness and disease.”

  • How then do we walk in this covenant? We walk in this covenant, because we believe by faith. Hebrews 11:6 says 6But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.-  What we are dealing with is that we don’t go to God accept we believe that God is.
  • The idea that “he is” is not about the existence of God. We know God exists, but do we really understand the totality of what God has once we approach him? The fact that we approach God suggests that God has what we need and he is who we need at the same time.
  • What does that mean? This means that we believe that God is what he is and is the rewarder of those who diligently seek him.
  • When I know God’s word on healing, it provides a solid foundation for my faith, so I receive the healing based on that particular word of faith.

Historical example of the Passover, the exodus, and the healing

Passover

  • Remember in Exodus, we are dealing with one of the most prolific stories told among the children of Israel. This scripture tells us that every man of a household, on the 10th day of the month, was supposed to take a lamb for every man of the house. – Exodus 12:3-4 says 3Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house: 4And if the household be too little for the lamb, let him and his neighbour next unto his house take it according to the number of the souls; every man according to his eating shall make your count for the lamb.
  • This lamb must be without spot or blemish. They were supposed to take a lamb in and on the 14th day, kill it at twilight. –Exodus 12:5-6 says 5Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats: 6And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening.

The covenant of healing

  • 1 Corinthians 5:7says 7Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us: – Paul shares that he forgot about the old. You are supposed to become something new.
  • Remember the night that Israel came out of Israel? They were supposed to take the lamb without blemish, kill it at twilight, and spread the blood on the door posts. God declared that the death angel was going to ride through Egypt that night. This was the last plague that was placed on the Egyptians. God was going to let the death angel kill the first born son of every family in this plague. The death angel was released and comes through Egypt that night. Wherever the death angel saw the blood over the door post, guess what the death angel did? He passed over it.
  • So Israel was supposed to take a lamb, kill it at twilight and spread the blood over the door post. When the death angel comes, the death angel bypasses over where the blood is. God sent his son who was Jesus Christ. Jesus became the Lamb of God. Jesus goes to the cross and sheds his blood on behalf of us. You and I then came into relationship by his blood. Now by being relationship with Him, and now that we are recovered in the blood (Jesus’ blood), we have eternal life, which means the death angel must Passover us. The same covenant that they were under in the Old Testament, we are under in the New Testament which means we can declare to sickness and death that they have to Passover us, because of the blood.
  • The children of Israel were given specific instructions on even how to eat it. In Exodus 12:11 says 11And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste: it is the LORD’s passover. – When they took that lamb in, it was for the nation of Israel. The Passover lamb was for the healing of the nation of Israel.

The Exodus:

  • When they came out of Egypt, Psalm 105:37 says 37He brought them forth also with silver and gold: and there was not one feeble person among their tribes. – The children of Israel were under a Pharaoh who did not know Joseph. In Genesis it was Joseph, one of the Israelites who saved Egypt from famine. Because of this, he got favorable with the current Pharaoh and received favor as a result of it. Now that this Pharaoh died (Ramesses II) a new Pharaoh rose up next and this Pharaoh did not know Joseph. The children of Israel who came in as welcomed guest were now subject to a life of servitude and bondage meaning they were taken into slavery. This Pharaoh saw how they were multiplying and was threatened by it. He was afraid that they were going to overtake them. For 400 yrs, they were in bondage. They were forced to make brick without straw (necessary to make a stronger brick). This Pharaoh tried to make it hard as possible.
  • When God allowed them to come out, he brought them out with the silver and the gold and none of them were feeble. They were slaves and they worked in harsh conditions, but when they came out, they did not come out empty handed and no one came out sick. Doesn’t that sound like 3 John 1:2 where it says 2Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth? – In other words God’s desire is when he brings us out; we will better than when you went in and the covenant on your life is that God won’t allow what they did to us cause us to come out feeble. We are coming out stronger than you went in!
  • If you think the Old Covenant was something, look at what you got in the New Covenant. Hebrews 8:6 says 6But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises. – God made a covenant with them in the Old Testament saying he was the Lord thou God that heals them. Exodus 15:26 says 26And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.- The word Lord here means JEHOVAH-ROPHE: “The Lord Who Heals” or the Lord our physician.
  • In Hebrews 11:6 says 6But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. –  He is… The “he is” is God being Jehovah Jireh our provider orJehovah Rophe our physician and our healer. This means that now we must apply who he is when we go to God. When we go to a Physician, we believe that they can somehow help us with our situation. In other words we wouldn’t go to the doctor, unless we had faith to believe that when we left, we would leave with a pill, advice, or something to help heal our situation. Why else would we go unless we thought they could help? You go because you have faith that they are going to make it better? Ex- Bishop explains he was on a plane one day and he states that when he travels, he does so as Dr. Joseph Walker. He says somebody got sick on the plane. The flight attendant came to him and said Doctor we have somebody in the back sick. Bishop told her, “no maam, you need a physian.” You got to know where to go, so if you understand that God is a healer, then when you go to him, you can claim who he is over your situation. The reason you are going to him is because you know he is bigger than our problem. We don’t go to God wondering if he can do it. We go to God knowing that he can do it and when we get through praying, we find that he is a rewarder, because we came to him. He is like our physician who says, “I am so glad you came to see me. “This is the same thing God says. He is so glad we came to him.
  • The name of God reveals the redemptive privileges that are necessary to be healed. When we say his name, all of his redemptive names are tied into his name. His names that deliver such as JEHOVAH-JIREH: “The Lord will Provide.” and EL SHADDAI: God Almighty or “God All Sufficient.”shows it is all in his name. Peter and John in Acts 3, were on their way to a gate called beautiful and they see a man that had been lame since his mother’s womb and the man is asking for alms. As a result, they say look on us. They say silver and gold have they none, but such as they had, in the name of Jesus of Nazareth, rise up and walk. And the man got up and walked and left leaping. He got up in the name of Jesus. In Jesus’ name were all the redemptive names. In his name is packaged neatly every redemptive name that you need. That is why when you say his name; there is power in his name. That’s why demons tremble at the name of Jesus. Every strong hold and every sickness the devil tries to put on you, demons know they got to let go, when you declare his name. They can’t control where his name is.
  • The covenant of God was made with the children of Israel crossing the Red Sea. The same idea or word for salvation is the same word for healing or deliverance. It is a Greek word 4982. sozo sode’-zo and 4991. soteria so-tay-ree’-ah where we get the word soteriology which is the study of salvation history or the understanding of salvation. These are words for salvation. Part of their salvation deliverance from the Passover lamb was healing which means if I believe God for healing or for salvation and then I also believe God for healing. God doesn’t just save us from sin, he saves us from sickness. He doesn’t just save us from sin, he saves us from sickness.
  • Remember the Passover lamb? Now what did they do? They took the Passover lamb, they killed it, and they ate the flesh, and put the blood over the door post. Well let’s look at communion. Matthew 26:26-28 says 26And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. 27And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; 28For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.Jesus took the cup and gave thanks. Remember in the Old Testament, when they ate of the lamb they were supposed to put on a belt, put on sandals, and supposed to have their staff and all of this right?
  • Look at the conditions and promise of healing in the covenant

Remember we said underline he is. Now let’s see who He is

Communion

o   When you take communion, it is not just a ritualistic thing that you do. – Corinthians 11:29-30 says 29For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body. 30For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.

o   What is communion? When we take communion, we remember the price that Jesus paid for us. Jesus sat with his disciples, but remember that this was a remembrance supper. It was a Passover supper. Jesus said this is my body that was given for you. Now who was he? He was the Lamb of God. They ate the body of the lamb in the Old Testament and that lamb was for the healing of the Nation of Israel. Jesus said, “If you are eating of my body, guess what I am doing? I am giving you healing. And when you remember the blood, the blood is giving you covering. Healing and covering. This is why you can’t take communion with envy and bitterness and jealousy and hatred in your heart. You have to examine yourself and take communion right, because if you don’t, you will eat and drink judgment or damnation unto yourself. This is why so many people are sick and sleep among you (according to scripture), because we don’t come to that moment of understanding the totality of what Jesus did at Calvary. This was all tied to a New Covenant. This is why sometimes we sing, “Now behold the Lamb” when we have communion. It is because he is the Lamb of God. So we don’t just rush through communion. It really is an insult to miss communion. Who would bypass, healing and covering? We should never be too busy for healing and covering.

o   It was so amazing that David stood between both covenants. Not that he lived in the New Testament, but David understood something. Jesus came from the lineage of David. It is almost like a prophetic word in the Psalms. In Psalm 103:2 says 2Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: – The reason I praise him like I do is because I got benefits. Benefits are a result of covenant. Where there is no covenant, there can be no benefits. Ex- When you go on a full time job, you sign a contract. It says you work this many hours (that’s what you will do) and we will pay you (that’s what the employer will do). This is covenant. As a result of this being fulltime employment, you then are entitled to benefits. If it is not full time, they can’t promise you, but if it is fulltime, they are obligated to give you benefits. Likewise God said he can’t handle us part-time believers. This is why you have to be all the way with him, if you want benefits. You got to be all the way in this thing if you are expecting benefits.

o   God forgives all of our iniquities. We are not perfect, we are just forgiven.

o   Benefits of forgiveness:

a. He heals all of our diseases

b.      He redeems our life from destruction – We should have been dead, but got saved us.

c.       He crowns us with love – You don’t have to love me, because God loves me

d.      He gives us grace and mercy – He holds back what should have gotten us. Why would you pass all of this up? With a relationship with God, you have benefits.

9 reasons why people don’t receive their healing

1.       Lack of faith– It takes faith to receive healing. Your faith has to not be fickle like described in Acts 14:9-10 where it says 9The same heard Paul speak: who stedfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed, 10Said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked. – Paul saw his faith. People ought to see faith on us just as they can see fear on us. Even if you are going to the Doctor for a checkup, you ought to go in declaring “I am not the sick trying to get well. I am the healed resisting sickness and disease.

2.       Unconfessed and unrepeated sin – Walking around not confessing and not repenting our sins can prevent healing. Isaiah 59:2 says 2But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear. – This scripture declares sin will separate us from God. Psalm 66:18 says 18If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:-If you think you can’t pray or don’t know how to pray, you can start with your repentance. This can be 30 minutes of prayer right there.

3.       Being double minded or doubting– This is simply not being not convinced. James 1:6-8 says 6But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. 7For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. 8A double minded man is unstable in all his ways. – This scripture says a double-minded man is unstable in all his ways. You won’t get anything from God when you are unstable.

4.       Self indulgent – This is selfish prayers. James 4:3 says 3Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. – Your motivation for asking is so that you can enjoy yourself in it. This is like preemptive prayer. You know you about to do something wrong and you pray for the Lord’s forgiveness before you do it.

5.       Having indifference towards God and his purpose – God has purpose and plan for life, but you have that whatever spirit. Proverbs 1:28-30 says 28Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me: 29For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD: 30They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.- These are those who can’t handle wise counsel. The Word of God comes forth and tells them what they ought to do, but they totally rebel against it.

6.       Disobedience spirit– This is when you have a disobedient sprit towards God and established authority. 1 Samuel 15:22 says 22And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams., 1 John 3:22 says 22And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.- When we do what is pleasing in his sight, you have to live this stuff out.

7.       Build your faith on experience and circumstance rather than the Word of God– You have more faith in your doubt and more faith in your fear. Romans 10:17 says 17So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. – Faith comes by hearing over and over again. You got to have the faith that says “I am standing on God’s word and what he has for my life.”

8.       Having a pattern of negative confessions that are not in agreement with the word of God2 Corinthians 4:13 says 13We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak; – This is when you have negative confessions like, “My grandmother had this, so I guess it is my turn” or You get the flu and you start planning your funeral.

9.       Not happy or committed to healthy lifestyle1 Corinthians 6:19-20 says 19What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s. – Some people come and believe God for something. You come to your Pastor and ask them to pray for you and you believe God is going to heal you. Then after they pray for you and your clogged arteries or high blood pressure, you go home that same night and you invite the family over to eat fried pork chops, mac and cheese, lemon cake, blueberry ice-cream, and sweet tea. The problem is this, as a spiritual leader, we try to help people understand practical things as well as spiritual things. Sometimes we can over spiritualize things. For example, we say “I am claiming my weight to be lost” and mean while you gain 30 more pounds. Well you don’t have to claim it, because it is claiming you.

Conclusion:

  • Bishop explains how he is fascinated by bible code books. As a result, when he reads scripture, he often finds himself trying to get the hidden messages between the verses. There are things that God is saying to us in scripture and if we really pay attention, there are subliminal codes in scripture. If you exhaustingly look at scripture, you would see these hidden things even if they are not saying it out loud. For example, the Old Covenant was a lamb. The lamb was slain and blood was on the door post. Jesus was our lamb under the New Covenant.
  • Now let’s illustrate Jerusalem and Calvary. Let’s give you a concept of the distance. Imagine that we are at Mt Zion on Old Hickory Blvd (represents Jerusalem). Imagine that we are going from Mt Zion (Old Hickory Blvd) to Briley Pkwy off of 24 walking. Imagine at the age of 33, we had been beaten 39 times at Mt Zion. Our backs looks like ground beef. Imagine that we have been beaten with whips laced with nails a metal and it has torn or back 39 times. We have a crown of thorns on our head and those thorns have punctured our temple and. It is not just in our skin, it has penetrated our skull. Now the cross has been given to us at Mt Zion at Old Hickory and we’ve got to go to Briley Pkwy and this cross is 2 or 3 times of or weight. We have to carry it uphill. We finally make it to Briley (Calvary) and they lay us down and they put nails in our hands and our feet and they raise us up. Now we are in a position where we die slowly. After all that journey and exhaustion, we are put on a cross in a way where we can’t even exhale. All we can really do is inhale. In the position we are in, our lungs won’t expand and in the midst of that we have the energy to say 7 words loud enough for all to hear it. What was the subliminal message at that Jesus teaches us at the cross at this age of 33? The subliminal message is that there was no way we could have finished this assignment, if we weren’t in shape. Some of us couldn’t even have taken the cross down the aisle of our church without wheezing. Nobody thinks about this. God said if any many desires to follow me, let him deny himself, take up his cross and follow me. Your cross is your assignment. Jesus’ assignment was to take up that cross and die on it. Your assignement might be the fulfillment of you purpose and you will never fulfill the totally of that purpose if you don’t have the health and energy to do it. Do you think Bishop Walker can preach 4 times on Sunday and 3 times on Wednesday in my assignment if he wasn’t healthy or in shape? We ask God to enlarge our territory and God says, “I don’t’ know if you got the energy to do what I am ready for you to do.” So don’t just glorify God in your spirit. Glorify him in your body. You can’ just do your assignment in your spirit. Whatever assignment you have to do, you have to do it in your body, just like Jesus had to come down in a body. We go to work in a body and we have to fulfill our assignment in our body. You can’t glorify God in your body if you have this stuff tainting your body, because it is holding up your assignment. All this stuff you doing is holding up your assignment. You got to learn that a healthy lifestyle is helping yourself get away. How many of you reading this would ever commit suicide? When you don’t eat right, you are committing suicide on the installment plan. Your commitment is not just believing God for a healing; It is what you are willing to do. Faith without exercise or works is dead.

Believe God for your Healing Part III

Application of faith and healing

Synopsis of Bible Study 01/19/11

Delivered by Bishop Walker III

It is important for us to understand that faith is the most powerful resource that God has given to any of us. It is so amazing, even if you think it’s your degree, your income, or your hookups, you must realize that it is our faith that is the greatest resource that God has given us. If you lost everything you had today, it would be your faith that kept you from losing your life. It is your faith that builds you up to believe that what you hope for is possible out of the ashes you find yourself in. In Hebrews 11:1 says 1Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. – This is a powerful insight of how the faith of the believer should be applied to our circumstances.

Pattern for applying faith:

1.       Looking unto Jesus. Hebrews 12:2 says 2Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.- This deals with our perspective. Our focus in the midst of changing our circumstances should always be Jesus Christ, because our faith begins and ends with him. If you remember our declaration which says: I am not the sick trying to get well, I am the healed trying to resist sickness and disease. Our faith begins and ends with Jesus Christ. When I look at how Jesus lived his life on the earth and the miracles that he performed, what it says to me is that these were examples and patterns to remind us that whatever sickness or issue I deal with, he’s already conquerored. Therefore if I look to God in the midst of my circumstances, then I recognize that what I am troubled over, he has already proven that he can heal. So we look to Jesus who is the author and finisher of our faith so our perspective must always be on Christ and not our circumstances.

Where does faith come from?

  1. Hearing – Romans 10:17 says 17So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. – Faith comes by hearing it over and over again. The more we hear it, the more it builds up our faith. Some days our faith is low, so I need to hear it again so that our faith is built up.
  2. Truth – John 17:17 says 17Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth – The word is truth. What we are after then is God’s intent through his word. Our perspective is we look to Jesus Christ. Faith comes by hearing the word of God, and the word is truth. We must however understand that we have to be certain that what we are hearing is truth. Just because somebody reads it out of the bible, doesn’t make it true.
    1. Ex- We studied how we should study the bible. We discussed how important the context was, taking into account the historical backdrop, the culture, and understanding the framework that the scripture comes from, because without that contextual framework, you literally take scripture off the page and apply it to your circumstance. The problem with this is you have to reconcile scriptures taking the contextual framework in mind so that it is properly applied to your situation: For example, the bible says, “Women be silent in church…” or “Women don’t teach…” Both of these are in the bible. Clearly where these two scriptures come from is a historical context that must be understood before that truth could be applied today.
    2. Ex2- Clearly the bible says, we can drink poison or pick up serpents and they will not harm you (paraphrasing). This is what he bible says, but we know we are not going to handle a rattle snake or drink strychnine, because clearly you have believed that this scripture has come from a context that must be understood in its historical backdrop. Here is the dilemma; faith comes by hearing and hearing comes by the word of God, but you can literally develop faith with a flawed theology. You could literally start believing something and develop a constructive faith that is flawed by a smeared or limited theology (understanding of what God’s intent was) and never get the results that your faith needs.
    3. Ex3 – How many of you grew up in church hearing something over and over again? It was drilled in you and you absolutely believed it to be true, then later in life, when it was properly explained too you in a historical context by somebody who could break it down, you had to admit that you were wrong? Think back on the years before you knew you were wrong. You believed it and you shaped your life around that belief and no one could tell you otherwise. It is not that you didn’t have faith, it was that your faith was flawed, because of a tainted or limited theology or understanding of God. What we are after then is how do we know truth?

How do we know truth?

  1. Anyone can take this bible, and manipulate it to serve their own agenda. So then how do we know truth? According to John 17:17 which says 17Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth- we see that God’s word is truth.
  2. The Holy Spirit of God in you, when you decrease and allow him increase, polices truth in your life. John 16:13 says 13Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. – The Holy Spirit is the delineator or discerner of what is truth and what is not.
  3. How does this perfect marriage work between the pulpit and the pew? It is simple. The Pastor recognizes his humanity. He or she recognizes that they are nothing but an earthen vessel. They have this treasure, an earthen vessel and just because he or she is anointed by God, he or she has to come to the preaching moment emptying themselves and saying, “Lord I decrease that you might increase, because we don’t want this word (their sermon) to be their intellectual property.”
  4. They don’t want this word to filter through their own perspective. Instead they want this word to flow through this imperfect vessel (themselves) and still come out the way God intended for it to. This is the Holy Spirit’s Ministry to the Man of God. This applies to us (the non clergy) as well, because we prepare ourselves to receive the word, and we get outside of our mind. This is why we worship. We try to create an atmosphere for us to receive the receive word and once the word of God goes forth and we start receiving the word, the Holy Spirit says that’s (the word being preached) truth, because the spirit bears witness to the truth. Consequently, the other side you can be in a service and somebody can be a great orator and really know the bible and really know how to break things down in a way that is sounds wonderful to your ears, yet the Holy Spirit inside of you can say, “Something ain’t right about that” and “Something is not right about him or her (the Pastor).” You may have wondered what that feeling was, but it was the Holy Ghost policing truth.
  5. The way in which we know truth is the Holy Spirit has to do it. Our mind can’t do it, because our mind will manipulate the word to make our reality and not God’s reality. Our perspective should be that we keep our eyes on Jesus. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God and that word should be truth and the only way that we know it is truth is because the Holy Spirit tells us so.
  6. It lights are path – Psalm 119:105 says 105Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. – Bishop explains that one thing he likes about teaching his congregation is that they challenge him. They want truth or the real deal and he is motivated by that. Imagine that here is the crisis or dilemma. See it like it is a tunnel and all the lights are out. Now imagine that the back door of the building you are in is the end of the tunnel. From here, in the darkness, we can’t see it. So we stand here wrestling with things like the fear of the unknown, because we don’t know what is ahead of us. People are saying just walk on through the dark tunnel, because there is light at the end of the tunnel. The problem is, if we don’t have the proper application of faith, we will stay here in fear and just sit here and die in darkness. If we are going to get the healing, we have got to walk through this tunnel to our breakthrough. Remember last week we told you that the lepers were healed on the way to do what God asked them to do (assignment). The instructions given to us here is get to the end of the tunnel. The word then is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our pathway. We don’t know how long this tunnel is, but we have a light (God’s word). As long as we can see in front of us, we can keep moving. We can’t get frustrated or frightened over worrying what is down there. We walk by faith not by sight, so if we properly apply that faith, all we are asking God for is to let us see our steps.
  7. The Holy Ghost says who led you through the wilderness where there were fiery serpents and scorpions? Guess where the scorpions were? The children of Isreal could have accidently stepped on them in the wilderness, but there was a light saying, “No not this way, go that way.” This is how God works. He says if just trust me; don’t worry about what’s up the road. Just trust me and keep walking and eventually you will get to the end of the tunnel, one step at a time.

When I apply faith, I must recognize something in truth…

  1. Isaiah 53:4-5 says 4Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. 5But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. – This is Isaiah prophesying during the exilic period (during the period of exile) when the kingdoms were divided in the Old Testament. People were separated and it was thousands of years before the New Testament or before Jesus even came to the earth. Isaiah is prophesying about the Messiah who would come a thousand yrs before he came. One of Jesus’ disciples, namely Peter who ends up encouraging first century Christians, was wrestling with this idea of sickness and salvation. Peter lifts this verse up in 1 Peter 2:24 which says 24Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. – Peter is literally grabbing something that Isaiah said thousands of years ago to the First century believers. Peter was simply saying that truth was true in the first century and the same truth is true in this century, because God’s truth endureth through all generations. If God could do it then, he can do it now. Ex- To properly apply this faith is to say, if we have a record and we know what God’s intent was back in the days of Isaiah, then that intent is still alive today. God’s intent doesn’t have term limits.
  2. How do you reconcile faith and doubt? Mark 11:22-24 says 22And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. 23For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. 24Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. – How many people struggle with this? When you pray it will be done, if you just believe, it can happen. Our problem is doubt. Doubt taints God’s intent for our life. Ex- We pray, “We say let me have a week of peace. Lord I thank you that no drama will happen in my life this week and I just believe it is so in Jesus name, amen. “Now we prayed this on Sunday and Monday when you go to work, the boss that didn’t like you likes you now and Tuesday you get a raise. On Wednesday, something wonderful happens like somebody just walks up to us and blesses us. On Thursday you walk around the house saying, “Things are going so well, I am just nervous that something is going to happen.” Why did you pray for the thing to be well, if you expecting something bad. Ex2- We pray “ I believe you Lord for my king or queen and I believe you going to send them to me and give me the desires of my heart. In Jesus name amen” God sends them and there is no drama and your friends envy it. Then you say, it seems too good to be true. Why did you pray for it, if you didn’t think God could deliver? Are you guilty of this?

How much faith do you need?

  1. Lots of people say you need faith the size of a mustard seed. Most people don’t even know what a mustard seed is. It is however a very small seed. It is the seed of mustard greens. We don’t know what it is, but we know the scripture that uses the reference which is. Matthew 17:20 which says 20And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. – If you have this kind of faith, you don’t have to say give me the strength to climb the mountain. You can just say, “Lord let this mountain be gone.”
  2. Why is the mountain still there? Some of us have been asking that the mountain be moved for over 5 yrs. Could it be that we are speaking to wrong mountain? Could it be the mountain that you are speaking to, God didn’t intend for you to move. If you truly have your steps ordered by the Lord and you were led by the light of his word, wouldn’t he clearly reveal to you what mountains he wanted you to speak to? Have you ever thought that some mountains were put in your life to build character or to develop you? Have you ever considered that you are asking deliverance from something he is developing you in? He promised the move the mountain, but he will tell what mountains to move and when.
  3. We have to learn to fight the good fight of faith. We can’t fight the wrong fight. We have to fight the right fight. When we fight the good fight of faith it is as mentioned in 1 Timothy 6:12 says 12Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
  4. Beware of the enemies of faith – 1 Corinthians 16:13 says 13 Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. [a] Be strong.  – We have theses enemies of our faith. Sometimes we forget that we are new creatures. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says 17Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.  – Here is the enemy of your faith. We don’t feel worthy to go before God and ask for what you need, because you are dealing with the guilt and shame of your past. For some reason we have not accepted the reality that once we got in Christ, old things have passed away and all things have become new. God is not holding over our head what we hold over your head. The devil wants us to deal in guilt and shame. He wants us to think we are being punished or maybe our sickness is a curse for stuff we had done. If this were the case, all of us would be sick and itching tonight. What can wash away my sins, nothing but the blood of Jesus!
  5. Bishop explains that his responsibility as a Pastor or Shepherd is to protect the sheep. He explains that he wants to give you the truth. He further explains that he is about to share what most people in his position will not share.

There is a certain doctrine that tells people who have sick loved ones who are not recovering or who have passed away that it was a result of their lack of faith. They explain that if you had more faith, it would turn around. What attaches itself to this doctrine or theology is a doctrine of prosperity that says the reason you are broke is because you don’t have enough faith. As a Pastor, a Christian, and husband that lost a spouse, Bishop explains that he takes great offense to this, because in 2004 he had a spouse with cancer. Bishop knew he had faith and he knew that his spouse had faith, but she didn’t make it. What do you do with this? Some of you have been tormented over the loss of a spouse or some other loved ones. You wonder if you could have done more, was it your lack of faith, or did you pray enough. If you are not careful, people will mess you up because they don’t properly apply faith to the healing.

Now you begin to ask yourself what is this about? Bishop explains as he went through this, he found himself going through a public paradox. He found himself in a tension contradiction. Preaching to God’s people and watching others get healed and yet it was not happening at home. Bishop saw people that didn’t have as much faith as he and wife did, yet they got a healing. You got to be honest. Sometimes you wonder what is going on. Bishop found himself as a man of God struggling with this. He wanted to know what the Lord meant, because he said according to his word that whatever he would ask, it would happen if he believed and never doubt. The Lord had to show him something before he totally lost his mind and walked away from this gospel. He said the Lord told him, “Son you need you to know what truth is. I am not a God who can be manipulated by your desires. I’m God.” Bishop asks how do I apply this. For example, If this was our house and we invited all of you to a party, you would show your invitation as proof that you were allowed to attend. Imagine that there were certain rooms that were VIP rooms and the rest were common areas. It is our house. You at the party and faith (your invitation) opened the door for you. As a result you got int. There are some people in the VIP area, but you can’t go in there. We are sovereign in our house and we determine who gets to go where. Your faith got you in, but just because faith got you in, we are still sovereign in our house. You can’t walk in our house and tell us where you are going. We tell you what you have access to and what you don’t have access to. You don’t have access to everything, unless we choose to give you access to everything. This will help you with your hate issue as well. When people have been on the job less time than you or maybe less education than you, yet have passed you up, you have to know that God is sovereign and he can bless who he wants to bless. God blessing them doesn’t have anything to do with you. It is just what God does.

God says this in Romans 8:28 28And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.  – God says what I need is your faith to know that he is working. You need to have faith in the fact that he is working. You don’t need to know what he working on, that’s for him to know. You just need to know that he is working, because if you try to figure out what he is working on, you trying to be him. You just stay in the process and know that he is working.

There are some people who are going to get sick and going to recover and there are some people that are going to die. We believe anyone can get up from our sick bed, but what is God’s will? It was Jesus himself in the Garden of Gethsemane that said let this bitter cup pass from me, but let it be thou will and not my will. As a result, he had to go through the process and through the process he discovered that his father was working. So Bishop asked “Lord, what is your will” and God says, “Son, you got to have faith that I am working. Don’t try to figure out what I am working on, just have faith that in the midst of it, it will work out for the good.

We don’t know how long we are going to be here. We don’t know what God’s will is. Some people will be here 30yrs or longer. Job even says our bounds were set in heaven. We must live each day of our life saying I am the healed resisting sickness and we want his will to manifest in our life. We want truth. Our faith is in truth applied to our situation. We believe God for complete healing, but we know he is sovereign. Some people will struggle with this. They believe God can give you complete healing and he can, but until you have been at the bedside of someone terminally ill and watched them slip away with a smile on their face, you don’t truly know what healing is. Until you been in a room where someone has transitioning(passing away) and the saints of God was singing a hymn and you saw the person transitioning fix their eyes as if they saw angels, and until you have seen that they left here peacefully, then you can’t really tell what healing really is. Sometimes in that act of transition, God heals. That person is healed prior to the transition. When it your time, it is your time. The issue is this is when you do not die of a thing, you die with it. You have been healed in your mind and spirit and you are at a place where you are at peace with God. This is a beautiful and amazing place to be. I absolutely believe with all of my heart that if there is a sickness in your body and something you are believing God for, by faith properly applied, you can be healed. We believe in praying and asking God for a thing, but we believe that if we say, “Lord, even if you don’t do it, I will still trust you”, then that is a better prayer. We believe then you are saying to God, you deserve the right to do what you want to do and I am going to give you glory either way. Then if you come out healed, you come out with a crazy testimony saying I was going to bless him anyhow. God says you will not push him in a corner and tell him what he has to do. God says you can’t pout with him. What if he doesn’t do it? Are you done coming to church? If that be the case, then Bishop would not be preaching to us now (referring to the death of his former wife). You can’t be bitter with God, but you got to know he is working. Healing is many different things. Truth is not me telling people if you only had faith you would get your healing. Truth is allowing God the right to be God and us deciding to that we will bless him and give him glory anyhow.

Belive God for your healing Part II, Bible Study 1.12.11

Believe God for your healing Part II

Synopsis of Bible Study 1.12.11

Delivered by Bishop Walker III

We are going back over Part 2 Healing believing God for our healing we want to do a quick review today of what we talked about last week  then we will jump right into our teaching today.

Remember we made a declaration I hope you remember that declaration because it is important for us to walk into that, and I just want us to declare it again today. That declaration is, I am not the sick trying to get well, but I am the healed resisting sickness and disease.  Now, we gave you also seven things to do when you are standing and believing God for your healing.

  • The very first remember was deciding not to fear, I’m going to stand and I am not going to fear because I just believe God’s word. I am not going to have fear, because I got faith.
  • Secondly, we talked about the idea of not becoming frustrated. No matter what happens, I am not going to allow myself to get frustrated because that is when I make unwise decisions.
  • The third thing is I am not going to become desperate. Desperation brings about crazy choices and when we end up desperate, things aren’t happening at the pace you want them to happen and we end up with some witchdoctors and other crazy things like that.
  • Number four was you don’t lose confidence. You have good days and bad days. Our days vacillate between the two constantly, but we have to stay the course.
  • Number five keep listening to God’s word on healing. Keep that word in you. Saturate your heart, your spirit, and your home with the word on healing.
  • Number six, act like it is so. You get a word and you start acting like it is so. How does that manifest? What does that look like when we act like it is so. We praise God everyday for our healing regardless of how we feel. We just give God glory no matter what’s going on.
  • Remember we also talked about everything God made in the beginning was good. The devil caused sin to come in. Now sin came in and we must remember the wages of sin is death and the gift if God is eternal life. Satan wants to use sickness to bring death quickly into your life, but everything Satan did in the garden, God, thru Jesus Christ overcame at Calvary. Understand that once I enter into relationship with God, I have a right to life. This is the kind of life God intends for our life. In other words, it’s more than just a free ticket to heaven. Instead it is the kind of life we deserve down here.  3rd John 2 says as you remember declares Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. – This is the holiest idea of where God wants us to be. God wants us to be able to pay our bills, take care of our families, be healthy, and he wants us to go to heaven. Now who would pass that up?  The other side of that would be Satan who wants us to be broke, be sick, and go to hell. That’s not our choice.

Alright, so let’s understand some things today as we want to move further into our study. We want to take you down a road and we are going to make you think about a lot of stuff while taking you deep, then deeper and deeper. Is that ok?

First of all, I want to deal with idea of how Jesus healed and how it manifested.

I.                   How did Jesus heal and how is it manifested

1. Some instances of healing are manifested immediately. There are many instances in the scriptures where Jesus healed people and they were just healed instantly and immediately. This is important because we are going to tie three things together. In Matthew 9: 22 says But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour. – This happened immediately. This is so significant as we begin to look at this and understand the context of this. It is very important when dealing with Jesus’ healing and how he heals.

2.      First of all:

She heard that Jesus was coming by. A lot of questions need to be raised here. Was it the touch the woman gave Jesus’ garment that healed her or was it the fact that she heard Jesus was coming by and got in position?

a. Let’s dissect that. The bible says said she heard that Jesus was coming by.  Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God, so hearing puts me into position, because faith must be active. Faith must have a corresponding action. You can have faith all day that your healing is coming but if you don’t put yourself into position for it to manifest, you will miss the healing. The fact that this woman put herself into position was a corresponding act to her faith. As a result, she is in position; she presses thru the crowd, comes from the rear, and touches the hem of Jesus’ garment, Jesus turns around and says, “Somebody touched me.” A lot of people were touching Him, but Jesus knew the difference because in her touch was a corresponding act of faith. As a result, Jesus turns around and says woman, “Your faith has made you well (or in other words your faith has made you whole). Why is this important? It is because she is healed immediately. Whenever you have the kind of faith that puts you into position based on a corresponding action, regardless of the circumstances that it takes to get you into that position, you position yourself for an immediate healing. Let’s be clear, the Lord does not have to heal you immediately, but in this instance he did it immediately.

3.      Matthew 15:28 says Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour. – Let’s back up and look at this in its context. The bible declares in Matthew 15: 21 Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon.  22 And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil. 23But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us. 24But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. 25Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me. 26But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast it to dogs. 27And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table. 28Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour. – Here we have a woman who’s able to understand spiritual principles. She gets revelation and as a result of her getting revelation, a miracle or a healing takes place immediately. Whenever you are able to capture revelation of what God is doing or saying then it is an act of faith because you are saying, “Lord I hear you I see what other people don’t see when you are moving and as a result it positions me for miracles or healing immediately.”

4.      Look at Matthew 17: 18 which says Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour. Here we are dealing with the boy with epilepsy. He has an epileptic spirit and yet we see Jesus healing him that very hour. Matthew 20:34 So Jesus had compassion on them, and touched their eyes: and immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him. THEY FOLLOWED HIM. Now why is this significant? It is because there are times in which the LORD will heal instantly and immediately. Have you ever experienced that in your life or seen that happen? Have you seen where the Lord just healed instantly? In other words, somebody had it, the Lord spoke it, and something happened. All of a sudden, out of nowhere it was gone. Have you ever experienced that before? Alright, so he can do it immediately, but wait a minute we are going to tie some things together. He’ll also heal in phases.

II.               God heals in phases

1.      Here is a very significant scripture we want you to see. Mark 8:22-25 says – 22And he cometh to Bethsaida; and they bring a blind man unto him, and besought him to touch 23And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought.  24And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking. 25After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly. –  Now I need you to get this; it not that Jesus’ first touch wasn’t enough (at first he says he saw men as trees walking). The revelation then is that sometimes God heals progressively in stages or phases. There are times he does this in order that you and I might have our faith tested to give him glory. Ex – You go to the doctor, the Doctor says, “Listen here. There’s a tumor” and you go back six months later after you have prayed and believed God for the tumor to be gone. The Doctor now says the tumor has shrunk a little and you get upset because the tumor isn’t gone. It doesn’t mean you’re not going to get the healing. It may just means that God is saying, “Can you praise me for what the tumor has done, because it is on the way to being gone? “ You got to learn that God heals in phases sometimes. It may be a process, but it shall come to pass. That’s why you can’t get frustrated; you can’t get irritated by the process. You got to just hang in there, because it happens in phases sometimes. God may take a year or even two years, but we have to be willing to say, “Whatever it takes Lord, whatever you’re doing, as long as I get my healing, it’s alright with me!” Do I have a witness out there?

2.      God also heals when you are true to your assignment. I want you to hear this very carefully.  I want you to look at Luke 17.  Luke 17:11-14 says 11 And it came to pass, as he went to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee.12And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off: 13And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us. 14And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed.I want to teach you this. In order to really understand chapter 14 you have to get a theological construct, context, or background to really appreciate this. So let’s break this down. According to the law or the Torah (the first five books of the bible) or the Cannon (the Pentateuch) this idea of Mosaic Law. Particularly in Leviticus we have these laws. One on those laws, concerns itself with leprosy. Leprosy was that contagious disease that caused people to stand afar. Often times they (people with Leprosy) were declared unclean. They were social outcasts. They could not even dare think about going into the temple, because they would be considered as defiling the temple. Even in society they were on the peripheral. No one wanted to touch a person with leprosy, because they feared that they would become a leper and be called unclean. Imagine the psychological toll this played on people who had leprosy. No one wanted to be around them so they hung around leprosy colonies.

3.      In the scripture above, you have ten of them because they were in somewhat of a colony. Now watch what happens. Now the lepers see Jesus and cry out to Him. As a result of crying out to him guess what happens. Jesus has compassion. We must understand this, because it is going to bless us. When Jesus saw them, he said to them go show yourselves to the priest. And it came to pass as they went, what happened, they were cleansed.

4.      Now let’s look at verse 13 again and it will start making sense to you. So they lifted up their voices and did they say “Jesus heal us?” No; they said have mercy on us and when they said Jesus have mercy we can imply they were saying change our condition. When they didn’t want to be like this, they were asking for healing thru mercy? Correct! Watch verse 14. Did Jesus say you are healed? What did Jesus do? He gave them an assignment. The assignment was for them to go from where they were and to go to a place where they knew they were not going to be received. They knew that if they were out of their colony (as lepers) and they knew if they even dare go to the temple, they were bound to get killed. You are bound to get crucified in the temple with leprosy. Entering into the temple as a leper would make you be classified as a blasphemer defiling the temple of God. If anyone upholds the law it is the priest. It is priest’s job to uphold the law. Jesus sends lepers to the temple and shows themselves to the priest. Now watch what the assignment was. Like the lepers, the assignment doesn’t make allowance for our sickness. Just go do what God says to do. As they went they were healed. The reason some of us miss our healing is because we start making allowances for our sicknesses. We talk about why we can’t do what God is telling us to do and why we can’t do this or that, because we are sick and we say “Lord I can’t do my assignment because of this or that.” Woe is us, but know that when the Lord says go, you better go, because you will get your healing on the way there.

5.      Jesus knew by the time the lepers got to the temple, they would welcome them in, because they would no longer have leprosy. Somewhere between God telling you to go and the time you get there, he is responsible for the healing. So there are people, who come to church all the time sick, but some get healed on the way hear. Ever got healed on the way? I mean that’s how God does. You have to understand the power. Don’t ever let a sickness cause you to step out of your assignment. The best thing you could ever do when sickness hits you is to keep on doing what God told you to do, because God will heal you while you’re still doing your assignment.

6. So to recap, God heals immediately, He heals in phases and he heals you while you are in your assignment. You got it say I got it. Now we are getting ready to make a sharp left turn. We are making this left turn all day and this left turn is very interesting. Because what I want to deal with now is the idea of how healing is administered in the bible.

III.            How is healing administered?

1.      Now let me just preference this by saying and recognizing first of all this is worldwide Ministry. We have of course the local congregation, and we have MtZionAnywhere, and our TV & Radio broadcast. Having said that, we know we might get some letters and some cards, because maybe some people might not be favorable of what I am about to say, but we are going to tell the truth. How many of you come for the truth? Bishop explains that he wants to tell the truth. Bishop explains that he is going to give you the truth in God’s word right now, the real deal! Now, we want to talk about first of all the laying of hands.

2.      Laying of Hands

a.       Now I want to make a statement about this. It is so important to own this and we have to be honest. How many of you have been in, churches or services where you were a little uncomfortable with people laying their hands on you? How many of you have been in services where you were forced to get in lines or you got into certain lines and people were laying hands on you and after a while you got tired of it and they got tired of you and you just fell out. Bishop explains that what we are getting ready to teach us today is going to be so raw and so real that he could care less about anybody’s denominational position. Bishop says he just has to give you the word. Bishop Walker says it is his responsibility as a Pastor and Shepherd of this house to protect the sheep, so it’s our responsibility to tell you the truth and we could care less about what people think about it, because as far as this house is concerned, we going to get it right! There are authentic experiences where people are slain in the spirit. We can lay our hands on folk in the anointing and they fall flat out. It can be an authentic experience. The problem is it is viewed cynically and skeptically because there is so much buffoonery. People can’t distinguish between what’s real and what’s not. As a result, we just broad brush it and say “there’s nothing to all that” and when it finally happens, we are looking at as if to say, “Is that real”. There really is an authentic experience of being slain in the spirit. People do get healed when they wake up. So many things can happen when the laying of the hands happens.

b.      You don’t fall out every time someone lays hands on you. If it does happen it’s because everything in you has been given away. It’s a natural spiritual experience. It’s not like I lay hands on you and force you down. This isn’t of God. Let’s really look at this intellectually and spiritually. Let’s use our minds, let’s use the spirit and let’s try to come at this truth together. Let’s process this. Let’s give you a couple of scriptures. I have to give you some word first and then we will back into it. I want you to look at Matthew 8:2-4 which says, 2And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.  3And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.   4And Jesus saith unto him, See thou tell no man; but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.-Remember when the law says the lepers could not be touched or anything? In this scripture, the lepers came and worshipped Jesus. They said, “Lord if you are willing you can make me clean.” What did Jesus do? He put his hand on the leper, and touched him and said I’m willing be cleansed. Immediately the leprosy was cleansed. Religion will push you away, but relationship will pull you in. Always remember that. Jesus touched him, but religion would never have allowed us to touch him. It was socially unlawful. Look at Matthew 8:14-15 says 14And when Jesus was come into Peter’s house, he saw his wife’s mother laid, and sick of a fever. 15And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered unto them. – Now Jesus was in the house of Peter where his mother-in-law was Peter’s house and his mother- in- law was sick with fever. Jesus took her by the hand and the fever left. Afterwards she arose and served him. She was sick, got touched by the hand, and she was healed.

c.       Matthew 9:29 says 29Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you.- Jesus touched their eyes of the blind men an according their faith, they were healed

d.      Matthew 20:34 says 34So Jesus had compassion on them, and touched their eyes: and immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him. – Jesus had compassion on two blind men, touched their eyes, and immediately they received their sight and they followed Him. Lets understand that the people Jesus touched were healed. The issue is what this point of contact? Why is his touch important?

5.       Why is touch important?

a.       Let me back it up. People of God listen carefully. Everybody can’t touch you. I need to show you this. Let’s understand who Jesus was. I am going to teach this to you. Who was Jesus? Stay with me, I don’t want to lose you. I am taking you on a journey. Jesus was the son of God, but Jesus was God. He was another, but none other than God Himself. So I want you to make a circle on you paper. At the top of the circle write Jesus Christ. Make a small circle inside this circle and in the middle of it, write God. What you have just done is placed God in Christ. Watch this, that’s who Jesus was. He was God in Christ. So when we see Jesus who is God, we are looking at a glimpse of the glory of God. God allowed a glimpse of His glory to come down in earthen form because you and I couldn’t handle the totality of His glory. As a result, He had to package Himself in a human body so we could conceptually wrap our minds around Him here in the earth realm. God says the only way they (us) are going to understand me is if I come down here looking like them, because they can’t handle my glory. So we are looking at all of what God could reveal of Himself that we could handle. All of what God could reveal of himself because we could not handle all of Him, so we are looking at Jesus Christ which is God in Christ. Now why would we not say Jesus was part of God and not all of God? This is because when Jesus is in the garden of Gethsemane who was he talking to? He was talking to his father. When Jesus was on the cross and he says, “Father forgive them”, who was he talking to? It was his father. So we see now that God put himself in earthen flesh but it was not the totality of God. It was all that we could handle or make sense of. It was God, but it was the son of God at the same time. Now let’s go deeper. I know you are saying where is this conversation going. Just stay with me and I promise you it will bless you. In the beginning, was the word and the word was with God, and the word was God, and the word became flesh, and we beheld his glory. Who was the word? It is God. Jesus was with God in the beginning, and so the word was God too, but the word became flesh and dwelt among us. Emmanuel his name means God with us. Are you with me now? So Jesus Christ is God with us in the earth realm. Does that make sense?

6.       Here is the question how did he get here?

a.       Did God just send Him? God sent an angel to Mary and said to Mary, “Fret not yourself, because I know your husband may not understand that you are pregnant, but what’s inside of you is of the Holy Spirit. “ Now this was hard for Joseph to understand why Mary is like pregnant, because he had not touched her. `Joseph hadn’t touched Mary, but guess who did? It was the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit touched Mary and when the Holy Spirit touched Mary the Holy Spirit brought the word down into flesh. So guess what God’s first contact with flesh was? It was thru the spirit. When the Holy Spirit overshadowed Mary, it was the first contact God had with flesh. So when word got inside Mary, the word became flesh. Everybody with a bible hold it up (or your IPAD or whatever you are using for a bible). Now understand that this is your bible. It contains the word but it really is not the word. This probably messed some of you up. See this is the problem. We think that our bible is the word. Ex- It is not. CNN is not the news, they just report the news. Someone can up to you and talk to you about the news or what happened because the news is inside of us. Well when you have the word it is not the bible. It reports the word. The word is  already in you. David said thy words have I hid in my heart that I may not sin against you. Regardless if it is in a book or not, you got the word because it is inside of you. So now this word is growing inside of Mary. You ask “Bishop where is this going with this” Just like you and I grew nine months God in Christ was inside Mary for nine months in flesh growing and was born just like a baby just like you and I,  but it was from the Holy Spirit. Jesus was the word who came out as a baby in an interesting place, because he created the woman who gave birth to him. He was younger and older than his own mother at the same time. Now behold the Lamb of God. Now watch the amazing the thing; Now that Jesus Christ is the word made flesh then Jesus Christ represents something in the earth.

b.      He gives a declaration Luke 4:18 when he says 18The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, – The spirit of the Lord is upon me and has anointed me to do what I am about to do. So now whatever he does he does by the anointing, because he is anointed. In circles that you drew earlier, under Jesus Christ write “word.” Know that Christ is not Jesus’ last name. Christ means the anointed one. The word is anointed. God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son. In other words the word was sent by God. When the word got here, sent by God, everything the word does is done by the anointing. Anybody who really studies Jesus Christ and his ministry understands this. God authorized it, the word justified it, and the Holy Ghost verified it. Everything that Jesus did, he did it because God authorized it. Here is the pattern Jesus followed. Jesus says he must go do the will of him who sent him (his father). God authorized it, it was his assignment. He had a specific assignment and everybody he laid hands on was his assignment to do. Jesus says I have not come for those who are well. I came for those who are sick. In other words, this is my assignment. There were a lot of people who were dead the day that Lazarus died, but all of them were not his assignment. He had to go where he was authorized. That’s why he called Lazarus by name, because if he had just said get up, everybody would have gotten up. He was authorized to raise Lazarus from the dead that day. As a matter of fact, some people, even the Pharisees and Sadducees had the nerve to question by what authority did he do what he did. Jesus looked at them as if to say, “By what authority?” Jesus wondered, “You don’t know who I am? You think I need you authority to cast out demons and heal people on the Sabbath day. He said I do this by the authority of my father who sent me. I don’t need your authority because I have a greater authority. ” Pilot said to Jesus, “I have the authority to let you go or to kill you, just tell me Jesus. “Jesus said, “You have no authority unless my father gives it to you, because I have been authorized to be here by the father. “

7.       The word justifies it because everything that he did was justification which means to be reconciled. This means he makes it just as if we never did it. It means to acquit. Everybody that Jesus healed, he healed them without scars. It was just as though it never happened. Every eye he opened it was just as though they were never blind. Everybody that got up from lameness got up as though they were never lame before. That’s why when people who when lame people got up they were walking around and people were like isn’t that the one who was lame. Is that the same man? It was because when you’re healed, his word justified it. In like manner, it was so powerful that when God healed you he healed you, he healed you without scars.

8.       And the Holy Ghost verifies it. Because the Holy Spirit bears witness to everything he did. Now here is the issue, “Bishop, what does that have to do with people laying hands on us”. What I want to know is when you come up to me with your hand out on my forehead, what we want to know is who authorized it? Everybody is coming to lay hands on you has not been sent or haven’t been authorized by God to do it. Some people haven’t been authorized to do it. Ex- You see if some man comes in your house when you leave here and he has a bucket of spray and says needs to look around your house and spray your house for bugs, you going to look at him like dude who authorized you to be on my property? Right?  Well if you have that much problem with a stranger coming with a can of spray walking into your house then how can you let arbitrary people just walk up to you  lay hands on you. Ask someone who authorized this? If no one authorized this then that means how did the word justify it? Ask yourself does this line up with the word God has lined up with your life. We want to make sure we are reading from the same word and believing God on the scripture, because you may be praying over my marriage but you might be believing God for my divorce. You might believing God that I lose my job so you can step in and get it, so we want to make sure that the word can justify it. Bishop explains I want to make sure the stuff in the spirit can verify it because he is anointed. He is anointed in that his father anointed him and can sense in the anointing authentic spirits. You have to trust that feeling that you get something isn’t right when people come up to you. This is the Holy Spirit trying to warn you. Many of you write it off as well maybe I am not giving them a chance. Maybe I should be more lenient. You have to trust the Holy Ghost inside of you, that feeling in your gut that tells you something aint right. You got to be authorized. Bishop explains that he will probably get letters from people all around the world, but he explains that he has to protect his people. I can take water I can pray over it and tell you it came from a holy brook in Jerusalem, package it up, and sell it for 9.99 and I bet we would have some takers. The devil is a liar. Really think about this. Really understand that healing is free. Prophesy is free. Why would you pay for something that Jesus already paid for it 2000 yrs ago on Calvary? Jesus paid it all and to him I owe. Sin left the crimson stain, but he washed us. So you around here with your lucky rabbit’s foot, but realize that it can’t be that lucky. The rabbit had four and you got one of them. Come on people. I am trying to help this ministry and the body of Christ to get away from this buffoonery. If you got the word, and you understand that when God has authorized you are submitted under spiritual leadership. When you submit to this ministry you are saying to your Bishop Pastor/Overseer that you have submitted underneath the anointing of your Pastor. That’s voluntary. You said that when you became a part of this church or any other church that whatever is released by your Pastor is authorized to move in the ministry. Does that make sense? Look at James 5:14 which say 14Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:- You begin to hear this is any among you is sick. Then let him call the elders who have been authorized of the church let them pray over you and the anointing of oil in the name of the Lord. Which means you ought not let folk in church to pray over you and touch you who haven’t been authorized. Lot ‘s of folk walk up to you in the parking lot or the lobby come here I got a word for you. This isn’t right. They have to be authorized. If you have any doubt ask your Pastor have they been authorized?

9.       You understand prayer. Fervent prayer of the righteous avails much. When you understand a powerful prayer life you know how to pray like Hezekiah. You can turn your face to the wall and believe God for healing regardless of you circumstances. When you can pray like that and when you can understand fasting, you give up yourself and you can deny yourself or deny your body. When we have come into submission, by fasting and praying, we want to clean our self out that God can speak to us like never before.

10.   What kind of fasting? When you fast, you can understand God’s word words like this: Psalm 107:20 says 20He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.  The Lord sends his word to heal. It is constantly being sent to you. Do you know why ? You come to this place where there is enough prayer in the house and there is enough fasting in the house, and then there is a word going forth in this house on healing, what will happen is this that the power of God will move. Just based on the word of God going forth, people will just be healed just as people were healed all thru the word. Without you having to turn up and turn around 7 times and jump up three times. I am telling you that the word of God is powerful enough in itself to bring healing in your life. The word of God is inside of you. Jesus was the word made flesh and guess who we are? We are flesh made word. If he sent his word to heal us and we have a relationship with him, we can tell you what’s really happening every day. Someone say the word is in me.

11.   Let me bless you with this. I am not a doctor but I am married to one and I have no idea of what I am talking about but I will take a stab at this. Your body is a complicated thing. Every day you wake up your immune system is fighting off disease. Potential threats are coming every day. Every time you inhale, you inhale; toxins in the air could cause cancer in your body. Every time you drink water, the bacteria potentially can cause all kind of diseases in your body. Every time you eat something, potentially arteries could clog up or cells could go bad. Anything could happen but God has fixed it so and it is so your body is designed to fight it off. To say this word isn’t for you, because you are not sick is an act of God’s grace. What’s really fighting it off that is the cute physiology or cute biology of it. Here is the spiritual. It is the word in you. It is when you are uncertain about the prognosis, and you pray to God and you start quoting those scriptures. Someone can testify to that. It is when you lay hands on yourself and you start saying things like I heard my pastor say by his stripes I am healed. You become one with the word that you’re not reporting the news. You have become the news. We are trying to help someone. So even if you can’t get to that book called the bible, there is so much word in you that when you are in that place it comes out of your mouth, because that’s all you know. Can you imagine you allow yourself to become so saturated with God’s word, you are like a sponge and every time life squeezes you, all that comes out is the word? That’s what has the devil confused about you, because some of you should be dead by now, but you not because the word is yet healing you. I don’t take anything for granted, I thank him for everything! I can raise my hand and thank God that we can walk into a service and continually say thank you, thank you, thank you!
