Releasing the Leader in you Part III
Manifestation (its time!)
Synopsis of 02/03/16
Delivered by Bishop Walker III
The Challenge in manifestation
- It is challenging to get people to see what you see. It is hard getting people to execute your vision.
- Isaiah 43:19a (KJV) says 19 Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert. –
Let’s focus on some words from this text:
- Behold – I – new – now – spring – know. – Here is what God is saying in this in this scripture. God is saying, behold or look, I am doing something new. When is it happening? It is happening now and it shall spring forth!
- Let’s examine the word spring in the phrase spring forth. A spring involves Anything that has springs, needs pressure. The greater the pressure placed on the springs, the greater the projectory of a thing. If you expect to spring forth, then you must expect that to be under pressure.
- As a leader, you got to get a point that where you realize that everything that God does, He does in his time. Know however, that there are two kinds of time.
2 kinds of time
- Cronos – This is man’s time.
- Kairos – This God’s time. God is not part of our time frame, His time frame is God’s time is not bound by our time. For example, if we ask for something on Wednesday, God will step out of eternity into Friday and work out a situation for us, and then he will step back into eternity while looking at Wednesday, just to see if we will praise him in advance (before it happens).
- God will interrupt your plans. Everything God does, he does in season and specific time. Ecclesiastes 3:1 (KJV) says 3 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: – Everything God does, he does at a specific season and time. You got to be in the right place at the right time the thing he promised you to be released.
You got to learn to discern when it is time to move
- Sometimes a Kairos moment will come when it is inconvenient to your Cronos time. This is when you have to have your priorities in order.
- You got to make every moment count. John 9:4 (KJV) 4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work. – You don’t have time to lollygag. The more you walk into your role as a leader, the more you become irritated at people around you that do nothing. Ralph Emerson quotes “Guard well your spare moments. They are like uncut diamonds. Discard them and their value will never be known. Improve them and they will become the brightest gems in a useful life.” – You should assign tasks to every moment in your life.
Learn to become excellent in your leadership role
- It is about mastering your moves. Fertilizer is manure, but the seed needs it to grow. The lesson to this is, you might have to wade through a lot of manure just to get to what God has promised you.
- There are two types of people. They are the passenger and the
- Passengers – The passenger will let you drive forever. They won’t be proactive and won’t contribute. They will just respond to what you ask them to do.
- Drivers – A driver on the other hand is an assertive person. On Monday they are given an assignment to be due on Friday and when Friday comes, it is done. Even if another person has to do their job, before this driver can do their job, they are assertive enough to hound them until they get what they need. A leader will stalk you until they get what they need to finish their task.
- Some of you grew up like this: You went to the park and found that there was no basketball goal to play basketball on. As a result of there not being a goal there, you did not play. This is an example of a
- There are others who went to the park and found that there was no basketball goal to play basketball on and as a result, you found a tire or a bicycle rim and nailed it to a pole, just so you could play basketball. This is an example of an assertive person (a driver). This person figures out what they need to do to make it happen.
You have to be an result oriented leader
- The biggest thing about being a successful leader is Make results happen and people will follow you. In order to get results, you have to make decisions. There has to be something about you that people see and want to connect to. People ought to want to connect to you, because you make things happen.
- You have to be connected to the right people. Don’t connect with people that don’t make you better. You ought to connect to people that make you better and likewise you ought to make people better, because they have connected to you.
- Ex- Bishop often shares that he never wanted to be that pastor that had an eternal building fund. He didn’t want to be the one that took up money for years, but never built anything. Some people don’t know how to bring things to a place of completion.
- 7 things you need to do to be a result oriented leader
- Look at the overall picture. Genesis 12:1 (KJV) 12 Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee: – You got to be able to fill in the detail. It’s all about the destination, the fulfilled purpose.
- Destination – You are going to Los Angeles and you buy your ticket online. All though you destination is to Los Angeles, you can’t just pick up and go. There are some details that have to be fulfilled before you go. You have things like luggage, packing, driving to the airport, passing security, and boarding the plane ahead of you. All these things have to not only be done, they have to be done by a certain time, because the airline has a schedule as to when they will depart from the airport. If you have not planned properly, as a result, you get to the gate late and you may miss your opportunity to travel to your destination. The is plane leaving on a schedule to your destination. The plane is not going to wait, just because you are late! Just because you got your ticket (your word from God), doesn’t guarantee you a flight to your destination. You have details to take care of first. Don’t miss your window of opportunity. If you don’t fill in the details, you may arrive to a closed window.
- Determine what needs to be accomplished. Start with the end in mind. The whole point is to make it to your destination and to accomplish what you set out to do. It is important that when begin a task, you start with end in mind. Ask questions like, how will this impact my family or how will this affect my destiny?
- Set goals. Lot’s of people don’t set goals out of fear of rejection, fear of failure, or fear of criticism.
- Set goals in harmony with spiritual values. Habakkuk 2:2 (KJV) 2 And the Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.
- Knot that your goals should be in agreement with natural gifts and talents.
- Know that your goals in life should be two-dimensional. This means that your goals should first give glory to God and secondly, bless other people.
- Goals must not conflict with your life’s purpose. Bishop shares that he had an opportunity to do a TV show once and it would have been very profitable to do it. He chose not to, because it did not line up with his purpose. Since it didn’t line up with his purpose, he felt that God wouldn’t have blessed it.
- Establish objectives to meet goals. Proverbs 21:5 (KJV) 5 The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness; but of every one that is hasty only to want.- Leaders are planners. People that don’t plan are always behind. Plan everything. You have to plan to live and plan to die.
- Develop a strategic plan. Luke 14:28 (KJV) says 28 For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it? – When you do something, factor everything in. Count the cost.
- Set reasonable expectations. It takes time. Evaluate your progress. Galatians 6:4 (KJV) says 4 But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another.- Look at what you accomplished and challenge yourself.
- Know that you will have haters, but know that a hater is a person who is jealous. The problem with being jealous is a jealous person has put themselves underneath the person that they are jealous of.
Make room for the miraculous
- After you prepare, pray and make room for the miraculous. If it don’t work the way it’s supposed to, leave room for God to work.
Transcend one dimensional thinking.
Philippians 2:5 (NKJV) says 5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus- There was a time that low thinking people didn’t bother you, now you can’t this type of thinking around you. This means you are growing. When you understand your destiny, your conversation starts to challenge yourself.
- Follow the shifts of God. Exodus 13:20-22 (KJV) says 20 And they took their journey from Succoth, and encamped in Etham, in the edge of the wilderness. 21 And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night: 22 He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people.- The children of Israel were led by cloud by day and fire by night. In like manner, you should be so connected to God, that even if everyone else moves, you won’t move until the cloud moves!
- 1 Corinthians 12:7 (NKJV) 7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: – Whatever God has done in your life, it wasn’t for you, it was to profit other people.
- Romans 8:19 (NKJV) says 19 For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God. – You were born with a purpose, to solve a problem in the earth. The earth is waiting for you to get up and do it! You got to recognize something is groaning in the earth until you manifest your gift.
10 words you need to know as a leader
- Passion –Whatever you are over, start it with passion. You won’t commit to a thing without passion.
- Purpose – Once you have passion, purpose holds the passion together.
- Preparation – After you have purpose, you prepare for it.
- Priorities – Spiritual people are focused on priority. Matthew 6:33 (KJV) says 33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
- Partnership – Priorities will cause you to connect with the right people.
- Positioning – When you connect to the right people, this means that doors will open for you. Some doors will never open for you, because of the people you got to you. Know that you are the sum of the top 5 people in your life.
- Persistence – This the person that is on time, diligent, and always operating in excellence. Because of these things, you are getting attention as a leader.
- Productive – If you are persistent, you start producing fruit.
- Persecution – Now that you are producing fruit, the devil comes after you. If you are under demonic attack, then it is a good indication that God is has something for you to do.
- Perseverance – After all the devil throws at you, you are still steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord. This means that you lead while you bleed. Because you come through all the trials and hard times that you have, you have become the leader that you have become.
God wants to manifest the leader in you!

Releasing the Leader in you Part III
Clarification
Synopsis of Bible study 1/27/16
Delivered by Bishop Walker III
Psalm 25:4-5 (NKJV) 4 Show me Your ways, O Lord; Teach me Your paths. 5 Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; On You I wait all the day. – I am going to be led the way God wants me to go, submitting myself to God’s teachings.
Many of you like me, come to forks in the road. By this we mean, you come to a decision that you are ready, but you don’t know what door to walk through. You wonder what God would want you to do. Know that God will show you where to go.
Motivational speaker Zig Ziglar is quoted as saying, “Lack of direction, not lack of time, is the problem. We all have twenty-four hour days.” – This simply means that many of us are stuck with a condition called analysis paralysis. This simply means that you start with a great thought, but many days go by without you doing anything, and finally you get tired of thinking about it.
Joshua 1:9 (NKJV) says 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”- Here Joshua has been tasked to take the children of Israel to Promised Land. Note that God tells him not to be afraid. Know that God will never tell you to go anywhere that he won’t go with you.
I. You must understand how to assess the call
Jeremiah 10:23 (NKJV) says 23 O Lord, I know the way of man is not in himself; It is not in man who walks to direct his own steps. – One thing this implies is (especially to very opinionated leaders) that you have to learn to submit or accept to the fact that there are some things you just don’t know. When it comes to your destiny, you need God to fulfil it.
II. Position yourself in places you need direction
Psalm 37:23 (NKJV) says 23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, And He delights in his way. – God orders a good person’s steps. When God gives you a directive, it is not a suggestion, it is an order!
When you go where God wants you to go, there is life tied to it. When you go where God tells you to go, you live. If you go your own way, it turns into “live” backwards. Instead of live, you have “evil”!
Jeremiah 6:16 (NKJV) says 16 Thus says the Lord: “Stand in the ways and see,
And ask for the old paths, where the good way is, And walk in it; Then you will find rest for your souls. But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’- We want to go and walk in the proven ways which are found in the bible. These are the ways that people have proven over and over work and give God glory.
III. Accept your course
Proverbs 14:12 (NKJV) says 12 There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death. – You can’t walk a path that has been created for you by others. This leads to destruction. God has to create your path. God needs you to walk in your gift. Many try to walk through other people’s gift and as a result, they don’t live in the fullness of who they are. For example, you may be a preacher or Pastor, but you can’t be T.D. Jakes. You have to be yourself. If I am myself, then God can maximize my gifts.
- Romans 8:30 (NKJV) says 30 Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified. -If he called you, he will prepare you. As a leader you have to be a consistent student. In fact, what type of book are your reading right now? Are you reading anything that will strengthen your gift or enhance what you are leading? Leaders are readers. You have to expand on what you do and broaden your horizons.
- There was a time a preacher could come to pulpit and say anything and people would respond to it. Now people pay more attention to what’s being said and they look at you crazy when you are not saying anything. You have to stay on top of your game as a leader. You have to also:
IV. Achieve consistency
Lots of people make New Year’s resolutions and then weeks later; they are doing what they said they weren’t going to do anymore. As a leader you have to be consistence and do what you say you are going to do.
V. Learn to establish a healthy routine.
1 Corinthians 10:31(NKJV) says 31 Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. – You can’t be a good leader if you are in bad health. Watch what you eat, exercise, and take care of your body.
10 things a leader needs to do.
- Wake up early – Most successful people are morning people. This is one reason military personal get up early. The saying goes, “Early in the morning, will I see thee”.
- Exercise – You got to wake your body up. You need to exercise. Most people say they don’t have time, but you have to invest in yourself. For some people, if you just clean up your house, your car, or your garage, this would be exercise fin itself.
- Meditate and pray – Praying is talking to God. Meditating is letting God talk to you. Learn the power of mediation and being still.
- Commit to self-care – Learn to take care of yourself. Don’t let yourself go. At some point you got to take care of yourself. The person that doesn’t take care of themselves is that person that is so driven they don’t have social skills and is always at the office. There is only one you, so you must take care of yourself.
- Make a to-do list. If you don’t make a to-do list, people will put themselves or their to-do on your to-do list. This list governs your day.
- You are out to have a schedule that lists everything you have to get done in a day. If something or somebody is not on your list, then don’t allow them to disrupt your list. Time is money, money is time. Lots of times, we don’t get what we need to get done as leaders, because we let too many people on our list.
- Be aware of the local and world news. You can’t have your head in the sand as a leader. You need to know and be able to discuss things that are going on in the world.
- Prioritize your work. As you make that list, select categories from high level, med level, to low level. You can’t spend all your time on a low level priority when you have high level priorities that haven’t been done.
- Be proactive about your daily goals. Be proactive and just do it. Don’t procrastinate.
- Be reflective over your day. Have a moment where you just debrief and reflect on how your day went and how effective you were.
- Get proper rest. Some of us go to bed, but we don’t rest. Most leaders struggle going to sleep. They are always thinking about what they are going to do next. This is why you need to reflect and wind down.
Peter Drucker wrote, “Plans are only good intentions unless they immediately degenerate into hard work” – We have to plan and then put in the work.
VI. Don’t make practical commitments
Matthew 5:37 (NKJV) says 37 But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ be “No.” For whatever is more than these is from the evil one. – Know that “No” is an answer. You got to learn the power of saying no. You can’t say yes to everything. You can’t go to every birthday party and every function that someone has and end up with no time for youself. Learn to say no.
7 steps to consistency
- Motivation – You got to be self motivated. Leaders are often self-motivated. All they need is their vision to motivate them.
- Inspiration – Pour into yourself spiritually. Sometimes we pour so much out into others and never get it poured back into ourselves. You have to take the time to be inspired or poured into. You can’t give anything, if you don’t have anything.
- Activation – Become a planner. Live on a schedule. Ex-Bishop explains his schedule for today. From 5-6am he was at the gym. At 7:16 he had breakfast. At 8am he was dressed and ready to go out door. By 8:30 he gave a devotional message. At 9am, he was in a 1 hr meeting. At 10, he was at a 1hr meeting. At 12 he facilitated a bible study. At 1:20 he was at J Alexanders for lunch. At 2:30 he had a meeting. At 3:30 he had a meeting. At 5pm he facilitated another bible study. At 6 he stood out in front of the church to shake hands with members. At 7, he facilitated yet another bible study. By 8:45, he was sitting home with his family. – No way could he do all of this without a schedule.
- Acclimation – You must be accountable. Do what you say you are going to do.
- Collaboration – Help people who know you and appreciate your life. If you let people turn our no into yes, then your no will never be respected again. You can lose your effectiveness at the expense is your yes.
- Declination – You can’t yes to everything. Learn to say no. Some people have turned down major opportunities after knowing their yes would have a negative effect over the people that they lead.
- Execution – Execute the plan.
VII. How you mange change is critical!
You have to be able to manage change. Change is so powerful, we often resist it.
These are stages people go through when they encounter change:
- Anxiety – Change brings about anxiety – People have a hard time accepting things that won’t be the way they used to be.
- Acknowledgement –Isaiah 43:19 (NKJV) 19 Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert. -It is a God thing. It is bigger than me! I am only doing what God sent me here to do.
- Adaptation – They go along with the change just to keep from being left behind.
- Assimilation – A baby pulls a toy away from you. As a test, you give the child a remote to play with and later, the kid pulls the remote from you when you try to take it, just like the toy. By observing, you see the child is doing the same thing with the remote as she or he did with the toy. This is not strange though. The child is taking something they learned from one situation and applying it another situation. The child adapts without changing their world view. They didn’t change their environment, but they changed their apparatus. Just like this, you have to take what you learned and apply it in new situations.
- Accommodation – The bible says when I was a child, I thought as a child, but when I became a man, I put childish things away. Take a ball to child and the child will put the ball in his mouth. Give him a bigger ball, he will try, but will learn that he can’t but the bill ball in his mouth. As a result they stop trying to put the ball in their mouth. What they have done is shifted their behavior. We think because we give someone a different title, it changes organization. This is why we have coworkers still trying to put toys in their mouth. You have to change your Without changing, people would go around with remotes in their mouths.
- The good things you have in you are because God showed you stuff. Good leaders always operate before their time. If you don’t see it coming you do old things in new places. This is why you end up with a new supervisor but nothing changes. This is also why you end up with churches with new pastors every 6 mths. We do the same thing over and over expecting different results. This is what you call insanity.
- Learn to wait on clarification – Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV) says 31 But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint. Ecclesiastes 3:11(NKJV) says 11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end. – Timing is everything. One thing that makes you a good leader is knowing when to move. A good leader doesn’t miss their window! Don’t let your window close. When he says move, move!

The one they didn’t expect, Sermon 1/24/16
The one they didn’t expect
Synopsis of Sermon 1/24/16
Delivered by Bishop Walker II
Everyone loves an underdog story. Having said this, I would like to point out that there are some of us that don’t fit the “prototype”. No matter how inadequate you or others might think you are, know that God will bring it to pass.
Just to give you an example; Bishop Walker wasn’t the most popular kid in school, got in trouble for misbehaving, and he had a short attention span, but look at God! Who would have ever thought he would be Presiding Bishop? We never know how God will work things out.
In the text, God tells Samuel to go down to Jesse’s place, because he says Saul’s time as king was about to be up. God sends Samuel to Jesse’s place to anoint who God had chosen to be the next king. Jesse parades all 7 of his son’s before Samuel for him to anoint and each time it was revealed that each son was not who God had chosen.
Samuel was puzzled that none of Jesse’s sons were confirmed to be who God had chosen to be the king. Finally Samuel asked Jesse if he was sure this was all of his sons. Jesse then mentioned David who was in back tending the sheep and yes, he ended up being the one that God had promoted as king. It was the lowly shepherd that God had selected to lead his people.
- Recognize the sovereignty of God at work.
God chooses what he wants to do and when to do. You have to know that:
- There is a vacancy with your name on it – Saul’s disobedience caused this vacancy.
- Samuel was struggling with this decision that God had made concerning Saul. Since Samuel had been one of God’s leaders all this time, he assumed that God would have chosen one of his son’s to be the next king. Despite being bitter at first, Saul serves faithfully and stood behind Saul throughout his time as king.
- How can a man who was chosen by God, end up disqualified? Saul started out as God’s chosen, but he became disobedient. Sorry does not triumph the sovereignty of God. God will replace you over your
- David is behind the scenes keeping the sheep. Jesse parades the rest of his sons in front of Samuel, hoping that he would anoint them as king, but what God has for you is for you. God sees the end before the beginning. There is a blessing with your name on it, no matter what is done to try and block you.
- You got to appreciate the season God hides you. There are moments that God hides us. Job 14:13 (NKJV) says 13 “Oh, that You would hide me in the grave, That You would conceal me until Your wrath is past, That You would appoint me a set time, and remember me!- Here Job asks God to hide him.
- David is tending the sheep. David had to fight lions and all sorts of other animals to protect his sheep. David was hidden out of the spotlight and the things he encountered tending the sheep was preparing him for tasks he would have to undertake in his latter. God will prepare us on levels others would not have the wherewithal to participate. God wants you to wait until your “something big” comes up!
- David wasn’t supposed to be on the frontline. David was on the back tending the sheep. When it was time for David to come to the forefront, God never had to deal with David’s ego. During David’s time outside the forefront (behind the scenes), David learned humility. 1 Sam 17:33-35 says (NKJV) 33 And Saul said to David, “You are not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him; for you are a youth, and he a man of war from his youth.” 34 But David said to Saul, “Your servant used to keep his father’s sheep, and when a lion or a bear came and took a lamb out of the flock, 35 I went out after it and struck it, and delivered the lamb from its mouth; and when it arose against me, I caught it by its beard, and struck and killed it. – God kept you back there, because he was giving you You might not think you qualify, but there were battles that you fought under-the-radar that was preparing you for what you are about to undertake.
- Reality of being surprised by his will
- Man looks at one thing, God looks for another. David’s brothers were natural born leaders. They looked the part, talked the part, and acted the part. 1 Samuel 9:2 (NKJV) says 2 And he had a choice and handsome son whose name was Saul. There was not a more handsome person than he among the children of Israel. From his shoulders upward he was taller than any of the people. – Because Saul possessed these qualities and looked handsome, Samuel assumed the next King would have the same characteristics. He was surprised that none of Jesse’s boys turned out to be who God had chosen. God is not concerned about our looks; He is concerned about our heart. You might have the look, but not the heart for the part.
- God is concerned about your internal character, not your external look. God is going to surprise some people with what he is going to do in your life!
- When it’s your time, it’s your time. Ephesians 2:10 (NKJV) 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. – God can at any moment pull you out of the workshop and bring you to showroom floor while all the while saying, “It’s your time”.
- Esther 4:14 (NKJV) says 14 For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”- Your time has come.
- Joshua 1:2-3 (NKJV) says 2 “Moses My servant is dead. Now therefore, arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them—the children of Israel. 3 Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you, as I said to Moses. – It’s your time. It was David’s time, and when it’s your time, it is your time, no matter what others think! You are about to be a surprise to some people that are watching! Guess who is about to get the job? Guess who is about to get the elevation!
III. Rejoice that your story is being written
Some people wonder why God would use somebody like us. If we would be honest, there are chapters that we would all like deleted from our lives, but the truth is, these chapters make up who we are. Know that your story is still being written.
- You were prepared for this moment. – God allowed you to be on the backside long enough so you would be a multidimensional leader. What makes you a great leader is the ability you have to do things outside your job description. Galatians 6:9 (NKJV) says 9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. – Everything you experience is a setup for this moment. If you had to go through, it, know that it is going to bless you.
- The oil of God is on my life. – The Hebrews wouldn’t crown their Kings like other people. They anointed their kings with oil. It was oil made from olives beat off the branches and crushed. There are people that look at you and the anointed position you are in, but they don’t know that if you are anointed, you have been beaten and crushed just like the olives. Beating and crushing; there are some things that come with being anointed! I’m anointed!
- The anointing has:
- Power- You don’t do it on your own strength, you do it because of your anointing. Isaiah 10:27 (NKJV) says 27 It shall come to pass in that day That his burden will be taken away from your shoulder, And his yoke from your neck, And the yoke will be destroyed because of the anointing oil.
- It is my protection – God will protect his gift in you. God takes care of his anointed.
- It intensifies my praise. – David played for Saul when his spirit was troubled and it would calm him down. David shifted from playing for King Saul to praising for the King of kings!
You are the one they didn’t expect.
