“How to pray”

Synopsis of Bible Study 9/7/16

Delivered by Bishop Walker III

  1. Introduction
  2. We live in day of access. Just to prove this point, consider this: If some of us lost our phone, we would not know what to do. We invest most of our time in communication. We put emphasis on communicating with each other, rather than communicating with God.
  3. Prayer is communion with God. When people say what’s up, they don’t want anything past that particular greeting. This is an example of communication, but it is not communion. With communion, it goes much further. In communion, the two that are talking want to stay a while and have a
  4. Prayer has to take place frequently and consistently. In fact, a writer by the name of D. J. Moody is quoted as saying, “He who kneels the most, stands the best” . Learning how to pray powerful prayers can be the difference between defeat and victory.

  1. The Art of prayer.
  2. The model prayer. In Luke 11:1-4 (NKJV) we find The Model Prayer which reads 11Now it came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, that one of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.” So He said to them, “When you pray, say: Our Father in heaven,[a Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come.[b] Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven. Give us day by day our daily bread.
And forgive us our sins, For we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one.”[c– This is a model prayer , but it doesn’t mean our prayer should be this prayer (word for word), every time we pray. It simply means that when we pray, our prayer should contain some of the same components as those that our found in the model prayer.

    1. Mathew adds a different twist to the model prayer. Matthew 6:13 (NKJV) says 13 And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.[a] – Matthew gives the same model prayer, but he acknowledges the ending by giving adoration to God.
    2. When you think of the components found in the model prayer, you have to notice the following components: Adoration, Confess, Thanksgiving, and Supplication.
      1. Adoration – This is bestowing adoration on God or recognizing his greatness! Psalm 96:4 (NKJV) says For the Lord is great and greatly to be praised; He is to be feared above all gods.– You can’t approach prayer without acknowledging the awesomeness of God. When you get into the presence of God and recognize who you are talking to, you can’t help but to reverence him.
      2. Confess – We must confess our faults and wrong doings. You have to acknowledge our wrong doings and be remorseful. 1 John 1:9 (NKJV) says If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness- This means you don’t confess to people, you confess to a name that is hallowed. You have to go to God with a sense of Then you are able to realize you are not worthy of what you are asking for and that you are forgiven.
      3. Thanksgiving –1 Thessalonians 5:18N (NKJV) says 18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. – The easy part of giving thanks is for saying to the Lord, “Thank you for everything you’ve done”! We are in His debt. The other part of saying thank you is thanking God for the things he allowed that we don’t understand. It’s hard to thank God while you are crying, but you know if God allowed it, then it is for your good. We have to trust God to know he would not allow anything that wasn’t for your good.
      4. Supplication –Philippians 4:6 (NKJV) says Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; -To supplicate is to be specific. We must tell God what you want and be specific about it when we pray. Ex – When you go into a restaurant, you are specific. When you make an order at a restaurant drive-thru, we are specific about our request. If we want a sandwich without tomatoes, we order the sandwich without tomatoes.
        1. Often when we pray, we are general and not specific. We ask God to send us a wife or we ask God to send us a husband, but we are not specific about what we want. If you want a wife or husband that is tall, we have to be specific about it. If we want a wife or husband that goes to church, we have to add this to our prayer. Make your specific request known to God. You might not get it all, but at least you won’t miss the opportunity to make your request known.

Ex- Imagine if Oprah Winfrey came too your church service and said she wanted to bless somebody with anything they want, you would be excited. If the Pastor picked somebody out and they asked Oprah that they wanted her to pay their light bill, you would be furious. You wouldn’t be able to understand why they would miss the opportunity to get anything they wanted, by choosing something as small as a light bill. You would feel like they wasted a wish. Likewise, we have to stop limiting our prayer request, thinking that God is not big enough to fulfill it.

  • The art of Intercession
    1. Intercession means to stand in the gap between heaven and earth for people. Ex- Bishop remembers when the mothers on the Mother’s Board, used to make this humming sound while he preached. They used to hum in a steady rhythm that did not distract or take away from the message. It actually seemed to go with the message. At first Bishop did not know what they were doing, but one day he realized that what the Mothers were doing was interceding for him. They were praying for this young ambitious Pastor and the delivery of his message.
    2. Just like these Mothers, some of us had a mother or grandmother praying for us and interceding on our behalf, while we were out there acting a fool.
      1. Ezekiel 22:30 (NKJV) says 30 So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one. – God was looking for an intercessor, because he could not find anyone worthy of sparing..
      2. Isaiah 59:16 (NKJV) says 16 He saw that there was no man, And wondered that there was no intercessor; Therefore His own arm brought salvation for Him; And His own righteousness, it sustained Him.- God wanted to find someone to intercede on behalf of his people.
  • 1 Timothy 2:5 (NKJV) says For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, Jesus became our intercessor.
  1. Romans 8:34 (NKJV) says34 Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us., Christ is at the right hand.
    1. God revealed himself in a way that we could understand. In the beginning, the Holy Spirit was to the left and to the right was the son or The Word. God the Holy Spirit moved over the face of the water and he sent a word to speak things into existence.
    2. The Word goes down to earth and dies after 33yrs. The He comes back to sit at the right hand of God the Father. Before God the Son leaves earth, He tells the people that he would not leave them comfortless. As Jesus is coming back to the throne and the Holy Spirit heads down to earth to live in us.
    3. The Holy Spirit makes intercessions for you. When you pray, you pray to the chief intercessor, so when you pray, you must pray in Jesus name. It is like a stamp. If you don’t it may, like a letter without a stamp, be returned to the sender. The Father has a lot of different ways to answer your requests. God will often give your Pastor a word for the requests you have made. This is made possible, because of the Holy Spirit.
    4. Sometimes, because of the Holy Spirit living in us, God will put a supper on your natural.
    5. There are also moments the Father gets prayer requests from the Son. God gives his angels charge concerning you. An example of this is you being on an interstate an about to run into something and you only have time to say “Jesus”! This is a short prayer, but it is long enough for God to send an angel to block the truck from your path. This leaves you wondering how it happened. The answer is Angels is watching over you. Sometimes can’t visualize this, but if you think back, in the book of Acts, it was and Angel that released Peter from prison (Acts 12:5-17).
  2. The action of prayer
  3. Prayer that Heals the Sick – James 5:14 (NKJV) says 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. – The leader lays hands on the elders and as a result, the elders can lay hands on you, because the anointing flows down.
  4. Prayer that moves mountains – Matthew 21:21 (NKJV) 21 So Jesus answered and said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but also if you say to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ it will be done. – We believe when we prayer for something, it will happen.

  1. The authority of prayer
  2. Learning how to have effect prayer. Peter 3:13 (NKJV) says 13 And who is he who will harm you if you become followers of what is good? – In order to have your prayers reach heaven, you can’t be out of fellow ship of God.
  3. Isaiah 59:1-2 (NKJV) says 59 Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, That it cannot save; Nor His ear heavy, That it cannot hear. But your iniquities have separated you from your God; And your sins have hidden His face from you, So that He will not hear- Sometimes it is us that is preventing our prayers from being heard. When we are in certain areas, our cell phone may drop the call, no matter who we are talking to. In like manner, when you find yourself out of relationship with God because of where you have allowed yourself to go, your prayer call may drop. You failed to keep a connection with the Lord.
  4. You’ve got to be in right relationship with others. Matthew 5:23-24 (NKJV) says 23 Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, 24 leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.,
  5. 1 Peter 3:7 (NKJV) says Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered.– You are your wife’s covering. If there is a noise in the basement at night, you go and see what it is, you don’t send your wife to go and check it out in your stead. Same principle spiritually. Likewise, if you are the covering, how you treat your wife, determines if God hears your prayers. She is a gift from God. If you treat the gifts that God gives you bad, then God want hear your prayer.
  6. You must believe when you pray.
    1. 1 john 5:14 (NKJV) says 14 Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.One thing we have to remember, we can’t pray for stuff that is out of God’s will and expect Him to honor it. For example, you can’t pray for bad stuff to happen to your enemies.
    2. James 1:6-8 (NKJV) But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. -Don’t ask doubting. You got to believe it will happen, if it is in God’s will. When we pray, we have to believe that God has already put into motion what we requested, just like any parent would for their child.
    3. Conclusion:

5 things when you pray

  1. Be intentional. Luke 5:16 (NKJV) says 16 So He Himself often withdrew into the wilderness and prayed.- Jesus was intentional about praying. When do you carve out time from your busy schedule, to pray?
  2. Be alert – Don’t schedule time to pray when you are sleepy. It is ok to pray at different times. You don’t have to only pray at night.
  3. Be consistent. Ephesians 6:18 (NKJV) says 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—  – Being consistent means that you are dedicated to it. Replace the one thing you do every day that you shouldn’t. You could replace that time and use it for time to pray to God.
  4. Be positive – When you go to God, believe that he can do it.
  5. Be thankful –Psalm 100:4 (NKJV) says Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.- Be thankful that you are alive to talk to God and then show it by actually talking to him.

Synopsis of Bible Study 08/31/1016

Delivered by Bishop Walker III

Few times are we taught to actually study the bible? When we get saved, people just assume that we already know how to study the bible.

The Bible is an inspiring book that takes you on many journeys through tough times and many trials.

  1. The bible is God’s spoken word written with human hands.
  2. 2 Timothy 3:16 (NKJV) says 16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness – All scripture was given by God and inspired by God. Think about it: People just didn’t sit around and decide to write scripture for no reason. They were inspired by God.
  3. The bible challenges you to live a fulfilled life. Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV) says 12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. – The word of God is so powerful, when you study the word, it studies you. In other words, it reveals to you the things about yourself that you did not know.
  4. The word of God helps us all to be equal and it reminds us that we have not arrived yet.

  1. What is the bible?
  2. Martin Luther described the bible as the cradle where Christ is laid. The bible then is a collection of books that provide the complete and divine plan for humanity.
  3. The bible is our user manual. Ex In our automobiles, we have a user manual usually in the glove compartment. Most likely you don’t open it unless something goes wrong with your car. We do the same thing with the bible: It is there for us to go by, but we don’t open it until something goes wrong in our lives.
  4. The bible reveals the purpose of God concerning man.
  5. There are two parts to the bible. There is the Old Testament and the New Testament
    1. Old Testament
      1. There are 39 books in the Old Testament.
      2. Most of them were written in Hebrew. Some were written in Aramaic from about 1200 to 100bc.
      3. Was referred to as the Old Covenant. It is also the chief text of old law, history, and prophecy.
    2. New Testament
      1. We must know that we can’t throw the Old Testament away. Although we are under the New Testament or the New Covenant, the Old Testament sets the ground work for the New Testament. We have to remember, the only reason people were waiting on the star is because it was prophesied in the Old Testament that Jesus would come.
      2. There are 27books in the New Testament.
      3. This New Testament was written mostly in Greek.
      4. The New Testament has stories of the early teachings of Jesus and his followers.
      5. The New Testament is a fulfilment of promises from the Old Testament.
      6. The Testament also tells all about the apostles.

  • What is the formation of the bible?
  1. Early Christians were taught to study with map in hand. 1 Corinthians 13:12 (NKJV) 12 For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known. – When we read a story in the bible, we go on journey about God. We pursue truth and truth is revealed in the word of God. When we see God face to face, what we don’t know down here, we will know then. We’ll understand it better, by and by, old people used to say.
  2. You don’t really know yourself. When you look in the mirror you don’t see you in the sense that you think. We are the spirit of God. Who you think you are is only the house where your soul lives. Remember Adam saw Eve as body of his body and flesh of the flesh. He saw who she
  3. When we interpret scripture, we are asking question of the text. What is the scripture trying reveal to us?

  1. Why do we study the bible?
  2. Because you are not of this world. John 15:19 (NKJV) 19 If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.,
    1. 1 Peter 2:9 (NKJV) says But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; – You are a kingdom citizen living in this world. We live in this world, but we are not of this world.
  3. We study the word, because we want to grow.

  1. Personal spiritual growth
  2. You have to have a bible. Technology is great and it is good to have a bible on your ipad or cell phone, but you need a physical bible too for studying. Bishop had been shown how to download his airline tickets to his phone. By doing this, he only had to show the tick on the phone to board the plane. It was possible for the attendants to scan the ticket from the phone. One day, the scan machine quit working and you needed a real ticket in order to board you plane. Bishop had to get out of line and go and find somewhere to print the ticket. The convenience of gadgets is great, but there are times that you to rely on the real thing.
  3. As you grow as a Christian, you can’t just read books about the bible. You got to read the bible You can’t be a psychologist if you never read psychology books. You can’t be a mechanic if you’ve read any mechanics manual. Christianity is the only thing around where you can call yourself being as such and never read the book (the bible). Hebrews 5:13-14(NKJV) says 13 For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. 14 But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.- There is season you should be on milk, but you should eventually grow to meat.
  4. You can’t talk about other religions, because they know their faith. It is not their fault that we don’t have the discipline read and learn what we believe.

  1. We must teach others the bible
  2. We have responsibilities as ministers. Colossians 1:25-26 (NKJV) says 25 of which I became a minister according to the stewardship from God which was given to me for you, to fulfill the word of God, 26 the mystery which has been hidden from ages and from generations, but now has been revealed to His saints. – Anyone who calls themselves a teacher or preacher, must study.
    1. 2 Timothy 2:15 (NKJV) says 15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. – Those who teach the word of God have to be trained in this. We can’t be peddlers of the word.
    2. 2 Corinthians 2:17 (NKJV) says 17 For we are not, as so many,[a] peddling the word of God; but as of sincerity, but as from God, we speak in the sight of God in Christ.- There are too many avenues now days to get information, for us to not be educated about God.
  3. The responsibility of all believers – You can’t hoard the scripture. We must learn it and share it. Matthew 28:19 (NKJV) says 19 Go therefore[a] and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, – Can you articulate what has been sown into your life.

  • How to study the bible?

Hermeneutics – means interpretations. We must learn to interpret the bible.

Inductive methods interpreting the bible

  1. Observation – What does the passage say?
    1. Examine the terms – “The Lord is my shepherd…” Shepherd is a key term here. To point to the real meaning of this scripture, one would need to know what a shepherd is and what a shepherd does. One thing we know for example is a shepherd cares for his sheep.
  2. Repetition – Repetition of a word in a text is often a signifier of a point that the author wants you to get. 1 John 4:7 (NKJV) says Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. – Love is repeated here a lot. This means God must be trying tell us something about love.
  3. Atmosphere and setting – This means we need to get the political climate, the mood, and the tone. Asking who, what, when, and where can help a lot in determining scripture  what a scripture is saying.
  4. Interpretation – To get the interpretation, we must take in consideration:
    1. The Context – What is the context of the scripture? You can’t just take words straight off the paper at face value. You can’t be a literalist when interpreting scripture.
  • Cross reference-Look at other passages and compare them.
  1. Culture – Understanding the culture can better help you understand the text. For example, when it says women be silent in the church or woman aren’t supposed to wear men’s garments. At the time it was written for women to be silent, men sat on one side of the church and women sat on the other.
  2. Conclusion – After study and research, you might discover that what you were taught all your life may have been wrong.
  3. Consultation – Reading other sources may help you understand a scripture better.
  • Application – What am I going to do about what the passage says?

  • 7 principles to have when studying the bible
  1. Have the right attitude. 1 Thessalonians 2:13 (NKJV) says 13 For this reason we also thank God without ceasing, because when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe. –
  2. Pray for understanding.
  3. Plan for regular study. Carve time out to study the word of God.
  4. Take notes when studying.
  5. Review ad meditate. Psalm 1:2 (NKJV) But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
And in His law he meditates day and night.
  6. Get help from others.
  7. Obey God’s word.

The Fear of the lord is the beginning of wisdom – Psalm 111:10 (NKJV) 10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; A good understanding have all those who do His commandments. His praise endures forever.

Who was Jesus?, Bible Study 081716

Jesus

Synopsis of Bible Study 08/17/16

Delivered by Bishop Walker III

John 6:42 (NKJV) says 42 And they said, “Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How is it then that He says, ‘I have come down from heaven’?”- As we open, we have in this scripture, people looking at Jesus in the natural. They know who Jesus is in the natural, but He is saying that he was more than what they knew him to be. People couldn’t handle the idea that he was the son of God.

Historical accounts of the living Jesus say some embraced him as the son of the living God, or suffering servant, the new high priest, as well as many other things. Some even referred to him as a human being that the walked roads of Israel that was executed by the romans.

When we begin to look at who Jesus is, we have to recognize that other religions view him in different ways. We as Christians, view him as the son of God and God himself.

Without going too deep into his many points of divergence with Christ, it is good to insist that Gandhi Mahatma who was not a Christian, found in Christ the greatest source of spiritual strength that man has never known. For him, Jesus Christ is the highest example of one who wished to give everything, asking for nothing in return. In addition, Gandhi believed that Jesus Christ belongs not sorely to Christianity but to the entire world. Jesus was for him the prince of satyagrahi (a nonviolence activist). His suffering is a factor in the composition of his undying faith in nonviolence.

Jews didn’t believe Jesus was son of god, though they viewed him as sort of a high priest. Hebrews 13:8 (NKJV) says  Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. -Jesus is immutable and unchanging. This is a little bit more than the attributes of a high priest.

  1. The historical Jesus has to be examined

Jesus’ Ethnicity

  1. Jesus was Jew of Hebrew decent.
  2. He had a dark skin complexion. Not to make an issue over whether Jesus was black or white or trying to determine which would be superior, simply stated, Jesus was Afro-Asiatic.
    1. Historically it is important to know how Jesus what Jesus looked like. We often picture him as a white man, with blue eyes, and long wavy hair. A lot of this is portrayed in paintings that we have seen of him. One thing you probably didn’t know is Michael Angelo painted a famous picture as Jesus and he modeled the picture after a guy named Caesar Borgia. When you see the two pictures side by side, you can see the similarities.
    2. Take a look at this article below found at http://www.israelite.net/image.htm.

The images and idols displayed in the churches are not of Christ. Michelangelo first painted the most common religious image used in deceiving the world today. It is a picture of a blue-eyes European with blond hair, who they maliciously claim to be Jesus Christ. This false image was modeled after Cesare Borgia, who was the second son of so-called Pope Alexander VI, of Rome. The real Jesus, according to all scientific and historical facts, is an Afro-Asiatic man.

  1. The earliest recollection of drawings of Jesus by people are dated back to the 6th or 7th century, found in Egypt. In all these drawings, they showed Jesus as having curly hair and dark skin.
  2. John wrote in Revelation 1:14 (NKJV) says 14 His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes like a flame of fire; – The scripture says Jesus’ hair was white like wool. His eyes were like flames of fire and his feet were like brass. Brass in this context, means he had color to him like bronze.
  3. Jesus descended through 42 generations which started with Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and then Joseph. These were the patriarchs of this bloodline. This Joseph was the one that was hated by his brothers, because they were jealous of him. They were Hebrews and they served Hebrew gods. When Joseph goes to Potiphar’s house after interpreting Potiphar’s dream, he gains favor in Egypt.
    1. Joseph calls his kindred to Egypt to get fed during the famine. The Pharaoh that gave him favor died and the next pharaoh enslaved Joseph and his people, because he did not know him. They became the They were in Egypt and Egypt is found in Africa.
    2. Jesus was Afro-Asiatic. Having said this, Jesus wasn’t white as we know white to be today or African as we know Africans today.
    3. Jesus spoke two languages which were Greek and Aramaic. The international national language during his time on earth was Greek. Evidence of this is found in the story of the woman that had the demon possessed son and when he spoke to Pilate. If he spoke to Pilate, it had to be in Greek, because Pilate was Greek. Mark 5:41 (NKJV) 41 Then He took the child by the hand, and said to her, “Talitha, cumi,” which is translated, “Little girl, I say to you, arise.” – Talitha cumi is Aramaic.
  4. Jesus did 37 recorded miracles. He did so many other miracles, scriptures couldn’t contain it. The gospel only captured the big stuff. This is much like the news today. Only the big stories make the news broadcast.
  5. Jesus was a family man
    1. Jesus had 4 brothers and he had sisters too. Matthew 13:55-56 (NKJV) says 55 Is this not the carpenter’s son? Is not His mother called Mary? And His brothers James, Joses,[a] Simon, and Judas? 56 And His sisters, are they not all with us? Where then did this Man get all these things?” – Jesus’ brothers were named James, Joses, Simon, and Judas.

  • Jesus revealed
  1. Jesus didn’t see himself as divine. He made himself of no reputation. Philippians 2:7 (NKJV) but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. – Even though Jesus didn’t try to carry himself like he was divine, he knew he was divine. This is evident in John 10:30 (NKJV) where He says 30 I and My Father are one.” and in John 14:9 (NKJV) where He says Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?  – No other personality can declare that they are the son of God.

  1. Humanity of Jesus
  2. The priest tended to matters of the temple. When people sinned they would bring their best lamb to the temple and then the priests would take it to the altar as a sacrifice, so that they could be forgiven of their sins. After the crucifixion, the veil was rent in two and Jesus then became our high priest and the ultimate sacrifice for our sins.

  1. Hebrews 4:15 (NKJV) says 15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. – Jesus identifies with our weakness but he never sinned.
  2. Hebrews 2:17 (NKJV) says 17 Therefore, in all things He had to be made like His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. – Jesus became a man so that he would be able to understand the things that we go through.
  3. 2 Corinthians 5:21 (NKJV) 21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. – Jesus knew no sin. Even the former priest were not free from sin and this is what made Jesus the high priest. Jesus never sinned. You will never be sinless as long as you are in the flesh. The reason being; there are things that we do unknowingly that is sinful. Ex- Seeing wrong and doing wrong is still the same sin.
  4. We need a mediator or a priest. Under the Old covenant, it was about rams and lambs. There was a veil to separate the inner from the outer court. The priest would take your sacrifice behind the veil and offer it up to God for your sin. God was about to end everything, because mankind kept sinning, so God sent his son Jesus, to be the ultimate sacrifice. Then the veil was rent in two so we would no longer have to send anyone unto God on our behalf. We can now go to God for ourselves! 1 Timothy 2:5 (NKJV) says For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, – Jesus became our mediator.
  5. John saw something and he wrote it in Revelation 12:10 (NKJV) where it says 10 Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down.

  1. Jesus was the word made flesh.
  2. John 1:14 (NKJV) says 14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.-God sent the word to create the whole world and later used that same word to come down and become flesh.
  3. The word became a man full of feelings and emotions. This is why John wrote in John 11:35 (NKJV) 35 Jesus wept., Jesus wept. He hurt when peter denied him. He was probably sad in the garden.

  1. Humility of Jesus
  2. Philippians 2:8 (NKJV) And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. – Jesus is God. Jesus was used to angels being at his disposal then he gets an assignment to become a man just for us. If anyone had a reason to be arrogant, it could have been Jesus. How is it that the one that created everything becomes humble and others become arrogant?
  3. He preached not himself, he preached kingdom. Matthew 4:17 (NKJV) 17 From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”- Jesus was bringing divine order by picking 12 and then he preached kingdom which is Gods way of doing things.

  1. If you are focused on kingdom stuff, you will get upset over church stuff. The Kingdom empowers you to take over in every area. If kingdom people become leaders then things shift in an environment and then the kingdom takes over. For example, our Antioch location used to be a club. Now we preach the word of God in the exact spot where the club was. This is kingdom take over!

  • Who I Jesus?

  1. Jesus was that man who left heaven, at the will of his father, came down to be a man, to suffer as a man and understand as a man. He lived 33 yrs and when he spoke of his death, he understood his undertaking. Romans took great pride in execution. When they crucified you, they would make public spectacles of you. When they beat you and thought they were done in, they would switch people up, and whip you again (as if to keep a fresh torcher in the game). They took thorns the size of your finger and made a crown. They brought him before his people and sentenced him. They made him take his own cross in his weakened conditioned all the way to the point of crucifixion. We got to remember that he was doing this for people that he knew would not be ungrateful.
  2. They nailed him to the cross through the wrist. Imagine this, after nailing the one arm through the wrist; they would pull the other arm until it came out of socket (because it almost always wouldn’t fit the cross). As a result of being nailed to the cross, you would suffocate slowly. After all of this, they would pierce him in the side. Water and blood came out of his side, because he was the anointing. When he looked out, all he could say is father forgive them, because they don’t know what they did. He died for us who never mention him until they come to church.
  3. He is buried in the tomb, but what makes him different from other gods is that he got up from his grave. He ascended into heaven. Revelation 1:8 (NKJV) “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,”[a] says the Lord,[b] “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.” In other words, God is saying, “ Nothing starts without me. This Jesus who is still alive. He is God the father, God the son, God the Holy Spirit”. He is there waiting to do what he did when he came. He is the one that walks and talks with you right now.
    1. That’s him that healed your cancer! He is the one that sent the angel to look out for you. Even the atheist can’t deny that he lived. There is archeological and historical evidence that testifies to this, but He though he lived, he is still yet to come. He is waiting for that day, when the father says, “that’s it’!” When the father says “that is”, will send the same Jesus. Jesus is coming back the same way he went. He won’t come back like he looked when he left. We don’t know what he will look like when he comes back, but we will see face to face who he is. In that moment, every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that he is Lord!

  1. Jesus is coming back with those who have gone before. And after he cleans out the earth, he will create a new heaven and a new earth and heaven will be established the way he intended it to be. We will have paradise again.
