I will, I can, I must Part IV
How to Work with God and walk worthy of the purpose God has given you
Synopsis of bible study 09/23/09
Delivered by Bishop Walker III
When we look at working with God, we come up with ideas in our head on our own and then we ask God to work with us on it. It’s like we are saying, “Here it is; now you bless it”. This is not how it is supposed to be. God wants us to get with what he is doing instead. We ought to want to know what God’s intended purpose for us and then we ought to want to get in line and onboard with that purpose. Ephesians 4:1-3: 1I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, 2With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; 3Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.- it is important for us to understand that God desires for us to work alongside him in what he is doing. There has to be a sense that our purpose is not something that we just do. Our purpose is something that we are. It doesn’t mean that we are defined by it, we still maintain our identity. In other words we don’t get so consumed by what we do (purpose) that we lose ourselves. Once we see the difference between doing our purpose and being it, then doing it makes us step up our being to match what we are doing (our purpose). If it is a high calling or Holy calling, then we work on areas in our life so we don’t misrepresent God. It is significant that we look how he wants us to look, while we do what he wants us to do. Paul says walking worthy of our vocation. God is putting his reputation on the line, by trusting us to do what he wants us to do. God trusts us to do what he ordained us to do.
I. God calls every person to do four things
1. He calls us to salvation. He calls us from sin. He saved us and we are on the way to heaven, but we got to live down here. In other words, God saved us for more than to just sit on our hands. God saved us not only to allow us a chance to be with him in heaven, but to give us time to do our purpose here in the earth realm. Many of us are not ready to die, because we have other things we have yet to do.
2. Sanctification- this is the process of maturing in the righteousness of Christ. We were naughty by nature. When we got saved, we turned away from the stuff we were caught up in. The truth is this is like detailing a car and still driving it in the rain. The car is going to get dirty, because the car is exposed to the elements of the weather. In like manner, as long as we are exposed to life’s elements, we will get dirty with issues. God has to sanctify us every day so our old self won’t rise up and taint who we are trying to become.
3. Service-we recognize we are called to serve. Whatever our assignment is, we are not called to serve ourselves. It is not about us to be served, so we can stop crying about being called in different directions. We are called to serve and not be of ourselves. We are called to be a blessing to other people.
4. Accountability-God wants us to have accountability partners in our lives. When you are working in your purpose, the things that God is going to do in your life is so awesome, you will read your own press, causing no one to be able to hold you accountable. When you are in purpose and people are looking up to you, it is easy to lose your accountability. If everyone is under you, because they look up to you, then they are afraid to hold you accountable. You need some people in your life that can tell you when you are wrong and who will help keep it real for you. People that love you, hold you accountable. The sad thing to say is these are usually the people that we run away, but we really need them.
II. What defines us worthy of our walk?
It is our wisdom faith and transparency. Ephesians 5:15: 15See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, -when you begin to look at this, it suggest that we have to recognize that we must walk in faith and purpose. In other words, we want to be in step with God and his agenda for our life.
1. This requires:
a. Surrender-Lots of people do what you do, but they haven’t surrendered. When you surrender you let go and say God I am in your hands. Ex-Lots of preachers preach, but they haven’t surrendered their lives. They have their own agenda. Surrender is moving when God says to move. If you are still holding stuff back from God, then you have not totally surrendered to God. A good example of total surrender is Jesus on the cross.
b. Sensitivity-we must develop the discernment to listen to God. John 8:28-29: 28Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things. 29And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him. – Having sensitivity means we are sensitive to what God is saying to us. Vision has a set time that it will speak. We have to be sensitive to what God says so we don’t miss it. Ex-Many of us have gotten or experienced some discernment, when it comes to horizontal relationships. This means you can see foolishment in people before they even cross our path. We now have to develop vertical discernment. How do you know what God is saying? There is a thin line between hearing from God and schizophrenia. God wants you to develop discernment and hear what he is saying to you. This may mean we have to get clutter out of our life. We hear the word of God, but by the time it filters through the clutter in our life, we make ourselves believe God has said something that he didn’t.
c. Proper Position. Ex- You can be talking on the cell phone to someone and all of a sudden you can’t hear them anymore. There is nothing wrong with their phone, but you want them to stop talking, because you can’t hear them. You continue to move from place to place trying to get a signal. You even try getting into awkward positions trying to get a signal so you can hear and finally you have gotten down on your knees. In like manner, you might have to get in that awkward position on your knees to hear God. God might not hear you until you get on your knees.
d. Supplication-Mark 1:35: 35And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.-Jesus thought enough to get up early in the morning and spend time with his father (God). If Jesus did it, we should too. Try getting up early in the morning before the sun comes up and before you day starts and spend time alone with God. During this time, you can be very specific about things you need.
e. Self -denial- Galatians 2:20: 20I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. -You have so many desires. How many of you have magnified desired in spiritual places. Every fleshly thing that we desire does not just rise up in the world. Sometimes it will rise up in church. The truth is you have to crucify these desires every day. When you are in purpose, you have moved your agenda out of the way, making it easier to do that which God called you to do.
III. What is holding your back?
What is holding you back from writing your list for your vision and the steps to getting it accomplished?
1. Is it Fear?-Sometimes fear manifests itself in the form of xenophobia-This is the fear of fear. God has not given you the spirit of fear, but of power and love and a sound mind.
2. Is it Apathy?-means that you are saying that you are going to get around to it, but you never do. You keep putting off. Watching TV and watching “Dancing with the stars” is not going to get your vision into action.
3. Is it bondage to sin? Sin takes time. You got to plan it, do it, and then take the long way home to get it out of you. You have so much sin, you don’t have time.
4. Is it debt? Remember whenever God gives a vision; he always wants that vision to be under Devine Supervision, because at that point he gives provision, there is not a need for division, and very seldom a need for revision. God never wants you to finance vision on your credit card. We got too much to do for God to be in debt.
5. Is it Disillusionment-the means you don’t see life as you should. You are not really sure what to do.
6. Is it Deep wounds or hurt? Have past hurts hindered you from doing God’s work? Could even be church hurt.
7. Is it Bitterness and resentment? Do you have the Jonah complex? Are you refusing to work with the people that God sent you to work with?
8. Is it No vision or purpose? Are you simply confused on what your purpose is?
9. Is it Repeated failures? Are you scared you may fail? Michael Jordon was recently placed into the Hall of Fame. Do you know how many times he missed shots before this honor was given to him? You learn from your failures. When you walk in purpose, God will take care of you as long as you take care of what you are supposed to take care for him. ; Philippians 4:19: 19But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. – God said this because the church was helping with Gods business and his Ministry. Psalm 36:8: 8They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures.- God will take care of you if your help him.
10. Useful Quote
“We grow great by dreams. All big men are dreamers. They see things in the soft haze of a spring day or in the red fire of a long winter’s evening. Some of us let these great dreams die, but others nourish and protect them; nurse them through bad days till they bring them to the sunshine and light which comes always to those who sincerely hope that their dreams will come true.”… Don’t let anyone steal your dreams!-Woodrow Wilson.
This series that we have been in is going to be part of a book. We have a book now called “In pursuit of purpose”. In that book Bishop tried to guide some people along to help them in finding their purpose. Here are more principles that we think will also help in further progressing towards that goal.
9 steps to help in the progression towards purpose
1. Predestination-before your grandmother met your grandfather, God had preordained your destined. Jeremiah 1:5: 5Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations. All we need to do is be born. The two most important days to us ought to be when we were born and when God called us.
2. Petition-when I when God called us to our purpose. We must know when God is summoning us. We know we have been called when we feel isolated around lots of people. Lots of people are talking, but we do not hear them, because God has muted them out. God has called us out from among them.
3. Problem (the thing your purpose solves). The purpose in you is to solve a problem. God sees a problem and puts something in you to solve the problem. If God sees something in you to solve a problem and you don’t walk in your purpose, then you allow problems to exist that God ordained you to solve. Every problem in the world has a solution. You can’t cognitively work through it to figure it out. It is spiritual.
a. The problem of two generations ago has become normal to us. Ex-Your grandparents wondered how they would heat the house. Now we just turn on the thermostat. Ex-Bishop’s father had an outhouse when he was growing up. They had a toilet outside in a shack in the back of the house. You can’t even imagine this problem now days. The problem of one generation is normalcy to another. Two generations ago, when you had bad eyes, you just got bigger glasses. Now you can get laser surgery and see better than you did at the age of 25. This vision problem was solved because somebody walked in their purpose. The cure to cancer is probably in prison right today (failing to solve a problem). The cure to AIDS could be sitting here right now. In our generation, you are supposed to solve the problem assigned to you so it doesn’t go to the next generation. God put the answers in you so you wouldn’t allow problems to go to the next generation. Ex- Bishop explains that it is part of purpose is to solve problems by teaching about financing, relationship, purpose, and etc… He takes the blows that the world gives him, because he knows he has problems to solve on our behalf. He has to do what he has to do so that we may fulfill our purpose. Many of us went to Universities that our ancestors paid the price for. If they hadn’t paid that price in their generation, then we might not even have been accepted at that University.
4. Preparation -there is no way we could solve the problem without preparing for it. Many mean go to school. As soon as God called bishop, he went to seminary. What if a surgeon did that and waiting on God to give him the answer when you came with him with the problem. Learn how to work a business plan.
5. Perspective /vision-God is not going to give you vision, if you are not investing in it. Once you make preparation, God will show you something so awesome you won’t be able to stand it.
6. Passion-after investing into your vision, you starting getting that passion for it. Passion is what wakes you up in the morning; it is what drives you, and what helps you through the hard times.
7. Plan-you need the passion to help you develop the plan. What’s the game plan to get there? You can’t go to the bank and borrow money if you don’t have specifics. What’s the plan? Passion without a plan is zeal without knowledge.
8. People-the plan you develop will connect you with the right people. Nobody is going to leave their job and come and join in your vision, if you don’t have a plan. Nobody will invest in your vision without a plan. If you a leader and no one is following you, then you are just walking. What made the disciples leave their father and follow Jesus? Jesus said he had a plan to make them better (referring to making them fisher of men). The plan you have will draw the right people. Where there is no vision, people perish. Imagine being a pastor and thinking you can carry on a vision of building a church without people. You are the Pastor, the Deacons, the congregation, the choir, the ushers and etc… This makes no since. It takes people to make it work.
9. Produce- the people will always help produce it. John 15:1-2: 1I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. 2Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.-He says to every branch, you are the employees. If you don’t bear fruit, you are fired.
a. Verse 3 – John 15:3: 3Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.- he will keep you stretching so you can grow.
b. Verse 4- John 15:4: 4Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.-a branch can’t do anything by itself.
c. Verse 5 – John 15:5: 5I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. -He said he is the vine, the CEO and we are the branches; the employees that bear fruit or in other words is productive.
d. Verse 6 – John 15:6: 6If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. -if we the branches try to do things ourselves, then we will be severed from the source of our life (God). We might prosper for a while, but eventually we see everything begin to wither. Men then will gather you or you will become subject to the hands of men. You have to kiss but to make it.
e. Verse 7 – John 15:7: 7If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. – If you do what God asks, then you can ask what you will and he will give it to you.
f. Verse 8 – John 15:8: 8Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples. – We want to get the glory, then produce. What is the point of being a good Pastor and a poor Christian? What good is it to be a good teacher and a horrible Christian?

Manifest Part III, Crisis Management Sermon 09/18/09

Crisis management
Synopsis of sermon 9.18.09
Delivered by Bishop Walker III

Text: Exodus 14:10-15: 10And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto the LORD. 11And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt? 12Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness. 13And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. 14The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace. & Exodus 15:1: 1Then sang Moses and the children of Israel this song unto the LORD, and spake, saying, I will sing unto the LORD, for he hath triumphed gloriously: the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea.
All of us at one time or other has been into a time of crisis. There is no exemption of crisis. The bible says in Job 14:1: 1Man that is born of a woman is of few days and full of trouble. Though you and I experience crisis in our life, it is important to realize that God has given us the unique ability to manage it. There are times that God will allow us to go through situations just to see how we handle it. Will we panic or will we trust him? Will we give up or will we hold on? Will we pout or will we praise God?
The story of the children of Israel’s deliberation from Egypt is one of the most powerful stories ever told. It is a story that has been shared generation to generation. It literally indicates that it is the backdrop by which God will deliver his people going forth. Paul shares with the church at Corinth in 1 Corinthians 10:11: 11Now all these things happened unto them for examples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.- What God did though Israel is a framework or paradigm to show us that if God did this back then, he can do the same today.
The children of Israel are in bondage because according to Exodus 1:8, the Pharaoh did not know Joseph. Exodus 1:8: 8Now there arose up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph. Joseph was who God used to interpret dreams and he eventually became Prime Minister of Egypt. He put together the plan that allowed them to survive the recession of their day. In fact the stock market of today was a result of Joseph’s distribution plan.
The first Pharaoh knew the children of Israel, but the second one did not know Joseph. Because the children Israel had grown in great number, this second Pharaoh felt threatened. He puts them into captivity and made them make bricks without straw. 400 years the children of Israel cry out for God’s help. They ask the Lord to send them a deliver. The children of Israel cried to God and thought he was not listening to them. Have you ever been to the point that you thought God wasn’t listening to your cry for help? Whatever you are going through, God knows all about it.
As they were moaning, God was moving on the backside of the dessert. He is raising up a boy called Moses. Moses tended sheep until God spoke to him in a bush on fire. God told Moses to go down and tell Pharaoh to let his people go. Moses asked who should he say sent him and God said tell Pharaoh that “I am, that I am” sent him. You have to know that God will not send you where his power can’t protect you. As a result of a series of plagues, Pharaoh let the children of Israel go. Everything was going well until they got to the Red Sea. It looks like they would not be able to overcome their newest crisis, because the Red Sea was in front of them and Pharaoh and his army was behind them because he changed his mind about allowing them to leave. Ever been there, where you got a crisis in front of you and you can’t go back from where you came from?
Whatever your crisis, God can handle it. Crisis is nothing more than a testing time. You have to trust God in this season like never before!
I. He might not deliver you today, because he is developing you for tomorrow.
1. Gods timing. God doesn’t t operate on our time. Why would God allow stuff to escalate in our life is a question we might ask? The answer is because it is about devotion. God is testing the substance of your relationship with him. God has to create a situation to see where you really are.
2. It is about your conviction. Your conviction is what you believe, but your character is how you behave. What you believe determines how you behave. You can’t act like everybody else. You have to trust God. God wants to know can you depend on him.
3. Your crisis is a set up for the glory of God. God wants you to know you can depend on him. He puts you in a place where you can’t use your resources to get out and the people you used to count, you can’t count on anymore. The children of Israel were in slavery, because Pharaoh didn’t know their history. Just because the enemy doesn’t know where you came from doesn’t mean that you have to forget where you came from. If Israel would have remembered their history that would have realized that this wasn’t the first time they had been in a crisis. Abraham was in a crisis, but the mountain, but God made away. Jacob was in a crisis and said he will not let the spirit of God go until he blessed him. You ought to thank God for things you went through in the past because it is a framework to reference of what God can do.
4. God said he isn’t letting you out of your crisis until you demonstrate some maturity. When we come out of this, our life is going to another dimension. He wants us to demonstrate some development.
II. Never let your crisis; cause you to surrender your Canaan.
1. Never lose sight of what you are going to by focusing what you are going through. Exodus 14:10-11: 10And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto the LORD. 11And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt?-They cried out God and complained to Moses. The enemy can cause you to distort your focus. How many people do you know wanted to go back where they came from when their crisis hit? You need to make up in your mind that going back is not an option. You got to forget those things which are behind you and press toward the mark of the high calling. That’s why your rear view mirror is smaller than your windshield. God wants you to focus what you are going through rather than what’s behind you. Sometimes he gives you a word at 3 o’clock in the morning to help you get through. Sometimes you have to choose which the greater crisis is. This is a chance for you to decide to focus on what used to be and what is about to be.
2. Anytime God is going to take you to something, your used to be won’t let you go easy. We are not going to let what used to be stop the about to be. Your used to be says come on back. Your about to be says let him go. Your used to be represents your pain, your about to be represents your promise, your used to be represents your demise and drama and your about to be represents your drive and determination and your destiny. God’s got great plans for your life. What you are about to be represents your determination. The bible says the people turned on Moses in verse 13. Exodus 14:12-13: 12Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness. 13And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. – If you want to know who your real friends are, get in a crisis. Moses goes on his face and asks God what he should do. God tells him to tell them to stay still. God’s word for them is today, I want you to stand still and see how God will bring you out. Egypt used to be part of the children of Israel’s crisis, but God promises that this will be their last day they would have to deal with this. God told them that he will fight for them and all they had to do was hold their peace. There is Red Sea in front of them and an angry Pharaoh is behind, yet God tells them not to do anything. You would think he would at least want us to get in the “ready position”. The truth is, God’s got you in position to see something that you have never seen before.
3. What happened is the question? In verse 30, God says use what you have. Exodus 14:30: 30Thus the LORD saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon the sea shore. – Moses had a rod in his hand when God called him. He was a Shepherd previously and had the rod from that. It was a symbol of protection and correction. One of those experiences when he was going back and forth with God was when God turned the rod into a serpent that ate up the serpents of the king. Again God says use what you have. What you have is enough in the hands of God. It represents correction and the word (staff or rod). The Red Sea represents the crisis. God says stretch out the word over your crises. If he does that, God says he will bring the super down into the natural. He is going to open up a way like it has never been before. Moses stretches out his rod and the Red Sea opens up.
4. The real miracle is not the opening of the Red Sea. The miracle is the dry ground after the sea had split. If water has been there for years and the water is removed, then mud should be an issue. It should be so muddy that we should not be able to cross without getting stuck. God dries it up so you don’t get stuck. God will deliver us in a way that we won’t get stuck getting out of it. God waited until the last Israelites got out of the sea and the last Egyptian got into the sea before he let the water fall back into place. This caused Pharaoh and his army to drown in the Red Sea.
III. The question of crises is what do we do with our used to be?
1. They are still calling us and paging us trying to get us to go back to our used to be. God will deal with it, because you can’t. The closing of the water represents a burial. God lets you see your “used to be” buried in the sea. In biblical history, whenever a Pharaoh would become angry, they would send someone out and dispatch a group to come back and report what happened. Even when Joshua went in to spy on the land, he sent spies to go and come back report. This was unusual for Pharaoh to go after the children of Israel, but it was necessary for God’s plan. Pharaoh didn’t know who he was messing with the wrong people. If some of my used to be is buried, it doesn’t help. We need all of our used to be to be buried.
2. Now they are on the other side. They saw Pharaoh and his army drowned in the red sea. Guess where they are now, they are on the other side. Whenever God liberates you, we are obligated to celebrate him. They have survived something trusting God. Just like now they say the recession is over and you survived it. We are obligated to praise God.
3. Now there is an obligation. Moses began to sing and he was specific about what he sang. He was specific about that he saw. There ought to be specifics in our testimony. It should more than the cookie cutting testimonies we always here. Cookie cutting are testimonies where you borrowed the sound bites of another cliché using testimony. Tell us what specifically God did for you, so we will know if he did it for you, we know he can do it for us. Moses song is really a response to what he saw. He saw God come true on his word. God said he is going to bring you to a land flowing with milk and honey. Just because you are in a crisis, don’t mean God’s word is not true. When you make it, you have an obligation to audibly praise God. Some people wonder if it really takes all of that when they see someone’s praise get over the top in church. Some people actually are intimidated by seeing this. Praise people shouldn’t be the ones that scare us. It should be the quiet people. You will be emotional when Maze comes to town or when you go to a ball game, but when it comes to praising God, you try not to be emotional. You come to church and try to be the frozen chosen. Ex- Bishop explains that his mom used to explain to them before they would leave and go somewhere, “Wherever you show out, I am going to show out!” So if they misbehaved in the bank, mom would whip them right there in the bank. In like manner, wherever God shows out, that’s where we are going to have to show out. Don’t wait until you get to church, or bible study! You have an obligation to show out right then and there!

I can, I will, I must Part III, “Manifestation” Bible study 09/16/09

I can, I will, I must Part III
“Manifestation”
Synopsis of Bible study 09/16/09
Delivered by Bishop Walker III
Whenever God gives a vision, he always wants that vision to be under Devine Supervision, because at that point he gives provision, there is not a need for division, and very seldom a need for revision. Why is this important? Because when I get ready to manifest vision, I have to know how to find it. How do we locate what God wants us to do.?
I. 7 ways to find out what your vision is:
1. What is the deepest spiritual desire in your heart? Psalm 37:4: 4Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. – God wants you to be consumed with him and then he will give you’re the desires of your heart .
2. What stirs your passion? What is that thing in your life that creates zeal, fire, or excitement? What is that thing that gets us up in the middle of the night. and intensity. John 2:17: 17And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up. – When we see what Jesus is doing, we are so passionate about purpose it generates enthusiasm in every area of our life.
3. What flows naturally out of you? Purpose is never unnatural. Although challenges may occur on your assignment, it naturally flows from you. You need to feel natural when you do it.
4. Where do you bring forth fruit or produce good results. It is God’s desire that we bring forth fruit. You need to know where you bring fruit. Lives are changed as a result of your fruit. Matthew 12:33: 33Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit. Look at where you are most productive.
5. What is the witness of the Holy Spirit in your spirit? God often speaks to us and we write it off as a feeling or intuition. God actually prompts something inside you to direct you to your vision. Romans 8:14-16: 14For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. 15For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. 6The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: -We are led by the spirit of God. What is the witness of the Holy Spirit and where is it leading me.
6. What do mature Christians see in you? It can’t just be anybody. People see stuff in you all the time, but we must be concerned with what do the spiritually mature folk see in you. Proverbs 18:1: 1Through desire a man, having separated himself, seeketh and intermeddleth with all wisdom. – This speaks of us being in healthy relationships with spiritually mature people.
7. What career or ministry do you feel the peace of God about pursuing? Whatever we do, we must have peace in it. It doesn’t mean that the location of the assignment will have peace, but there should be a peace within you while you do it. If you are trying to find a place of peace in order to justify your purpose, then you will have problems. Remember, as long as people are in it, you will have some tension. This issue is that you can be in a tense situation and still have peace.
Get a clear vision of your desired life:
1. You must be faithful at a certain place in your assignment. Habakkuk 2:1-3: 1I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved. 2And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. 3For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry. – The scripture seems to indicate in verse one that he will be faithful at a certain place in his assignment. He will stand where he is and keep his spiritual antennas up to be clear on what God was asking him to do next. It is important to be where you are supposed to be in the right season when you are working with vision. When God gets ready to move us or give us additional assignments, we want to be clear on what God is saying. One of the most important sermons Bishop has preached was in 2 Samuel 9. –This is the story of Mephibosheth who is in a place of rejection and isolation. He is in a place where no one remembers him. The king got off his throne one day and asked was there anyone left in the house of Saul that he could show kindness to. Ziba, the servant of the, told him about Mephibosheth. The king wanted to know where he was and though Mephibosheth is in a place where he doesn’t want to be, but this is where his blessing will go and find him. It is in a place of stress and strain. Lots of times we want our purpose or promotion to manifest in places of comfort and ease, but sometimes God say if you can learn to survive in places of stress and strain, that’s where is will reveal purpose and assignment to you. This is why the bible says be steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord. You labor will not be in vain. Stay there until God gets ready for you. God knows exactly where you are.
2. Did you know Jesus had a vision? He had a vision statement. He is our model and if we are going to be in purpose, we have to have a vision statement. Luke 4:16-20: 16And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read. 17And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written, 18The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, 19To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. 20And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him. -Every miracle experience can be traced back to verse 18 and 19 of the previous mentioned scripture. If you don’t know what we are doing, all you have to do is look at our vision.
II. How do we know our vision is right?
1. First seek God for guidance on the individual vision for your future. Proverbs 3:6: 6In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. -God will give you direction. If you say to the Lord that you need to know what he wants to do in your life, he will direct your path.
2. Where will you be in the next 3-5 yrs? If you have a vision statement, people want be surprised when you show up years from now, because that you are now is not what you will be in the next 3- 5 yrs. Some people 5 yrs from now will treat you the same as they do now, but you will not be the same person and it will frustrate the relationship, because they refuse to see the vision. You will not be the same person. You don’t live in your not now. You live in your not yet. Everything you do is pressing and stretching towards your not yet.
3. It is up to you to change your direction. Vision is important. Vision creates boundaries for you. We have to reference everything with the boundaries our vision sets.
4. Purpose will not burn you out. When God called Moses, he spoke in a bush on fire and the fire did not consume the bush. This is a symbol that when working in our vision, we will not burn out, but we will burn for that vision. When vision burns you out, then you step out of your original assignment. You can be doing a lot of good stuff, but it won’t be God’s stuff. You cannot boil the ocean. You have to find out what God wants you to do.
5. Make a written plan of action. After you have individual vision in mind, you need to write it down. You have to have a plan. Make steps. Ex- If you were taking a trip your steps would be getting tickets, securing hotel, and etc…You have to keep reading it and speaking it (your vision). It is all about confession as we learned last Sunday.
III. Some questions to consider when writing your personal vision:
1. What are the ten things you most enjoy doing? Be honest. What are ten things that without them, your weeks or months or years would feel incomplete? These must be spiritual things.
2. What 3 things must you do every single day to feel fulfilled in your work?
3. List 5 things most important to your values? Honesty, integrity, etc…
4. Your life has a number of important facets or dimensions. What is one important goal for each of them? For example consider physical requirements, spiritual requirements, work requirements or career requirements, family requirements, social relationships, and etc…
What is your goal for your family or social relationships? Mortgage, living debt free, and etc…
What will be your mental improvement? What degree or training do you want or need to do effectively what God wants you to do. What are you going to do for fun? Do you need to take scheduled time for vacation? You might need to have a balance. As they say work hard, play harder.
5. If you never had to work another day in your life, how would you spend your time? Instead of work what would you do? Ex- Bishop explains how he councils celebrities and they have a hard adjusting after their career is over. After you finish the excitement of winning $50 million, you will notice that something is still missing. This that is missing would probably point to your vision. Prosperity only funds purpose. Prosperity was not intended to sustain you. If you never had to work another day in your life, what would you do?
6. When your life is coming to an end, what will you regret not doing, seeing, or achieving?
Take Action Steps:
1. It is time now. John 9:4: 4I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work. It is time to start taking action. Take baby steps and check them off as you go. Some steps will be difficult but you have to pray, get self help books, and do whatever it takes to make the necessary steps. You have to start feeding yourself. God gave Ex- Bishop was called to preach and at this point, he didn’t have vision. He only had assignment. He came to Nashville went to school and when God saw him make an investment in his assignment, he gave him vision. God will not trust us with Vision if we will not invest in it. Bishop explains that he still has accountability partners that text him from time the time and ask what he is reading? When u think about what God showed you, what you are reading in pertaining to that area? What is the most recent article about what you are trying to start? What are you stimulating your conscious with? You have to learn to read stuff. If your down payment was in the book, would you find it? No longer can we think vision year to year, we have to start thinking of the church 2020 where as we used to look towards the year 2010. When we bought the “I-phone, we thought it was the best thing out. Before we knew it, they had come out with something else. This is a technology driven age. No longer can we think day to day. Until you understand the trend, you will be left behind. You can’t have 8-track Ministry in a CD driven generation. Develop skills based on what others have written about the vision you are about to undertake.
2. Each step you have to say you can do this. We have develop an “I can attitude”. Philippians 4:13: 13I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. –We can do all things. We don’t have the money, but we can do this.
3. Wake up!! Life is happening now! Get out the bed. Life is happening now! Give yourself a wakeup call regularly. Ask if you are doing what God called you to do. If you sit back saying you are working on it, then next week you will still be working on it. You got one shot at this. We got to recognize God put something in us so great. This generation needs what we have. If we sit down and don’t do it, we will rob the next generation of their blessing. Ephesians 5:16: 16Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. – This scripture says redeem the time… Last week is a canceled check. Ex – Every morning when Bishop gets up it is dark. He is trying to absorb everything God wants him to do in one day. He wants to maximize his day. We want to say we fought a good race and finished our assignment. The greatest glory you can give God is for you to finish your assignment. Remember the mothers asked for her sons to sit on the right hand side of glory. Glory is finishing your assignment. Jesus came to his glory when he said” it is it is finished”. This meant he finished what God sent him here to do. Proverbs 6:6-11: 6Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: 7Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, 8Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest. 9How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep? 10Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: 11So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man. –You will be mad at others, because you didn’t do what you were supposed to do and others did. The ant doesn’t have a Pastor, yet the ant works and prepares. She has a plan. How long will you sleep? If you do not work and plan, when you get old, your kids will have to take care of you, because you vision was not met. It is never too late. Now is a good time to start over.
IV. Greatest manifestation of purpose in bible:
1. Jesus knew it was time. Matthew 4:12: 12Now when Jesus had heard that John was cast into prison, he departed into Galilee; – The Scribes and Pharasiees got tired of John the Baptist saying that Jesus was coming. Matthew 4:13-16: 13And leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of Zabulon and Nephthalim: 14That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, 15The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles; 16The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up. –It was prophesied where Jesus would be. After John was placed in jail, Jesus knew it was time for his Ministry to start. What God is doing in your life will be like a light in darkness. There are a lot of people doing what you are doing, but what you do will show up like light in darkness. Vision brought light, like when the I-phone showed up, we were all in awe because we could just touch the screen to get what we wanted. We had no framework to really understand it. We were in darkness.
2. Jesus begins to preach. Matthew 4:17-18: 17From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. 18And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. 19And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.20And they straightway left their nets, and followed him. 21And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them. -Jesus stays in his assignment. He started walking by the seashore. Jesus sees two brothers Simon Peter and Andrew his brother. He says to them to follow him and he would make them fishers of men. They left their nets immediately. They didn’t ask questions. They just left. When you are confident about your vision, when you show up with your vision, people will follow you. Nobody will follow you if you are not clear about you vision. When you show up like this is what God called you to do, he will have people in place for you.
3. When you follow people will purpose, you get upgraded. Jesus said in verse 21 that he will make them fishers of men. Jesus already has two with him (name them), and he goes further. They are in a ship. Two brothers are in a ship with their father or someone they have great allegiance to. They re fixing what is broke by mending their nets. They are in a ship that they have great allegiance, trying to fix something broke. Jesus shows up and says to them come follow me and they immediately left the ship. They left what they had allegiance to, because their purpose was greater than what they had allegiance to. If you allow what you have allegiance to, then you will miss your purpose.
4. Jesus went to their traditional of doing things. Matthew 4:23: 23And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.- Jesus went in preaching something that they had never heard before. He went into a traditional way of doing things, doing something the system had never seen before. Remember that they believed you couldn’t put new wine in old wine skins. What is inside of you will be something different than what they have seen before. Ex-Bishop explains when he got to Nashville, people told him that Nashville was a traditional stronghold and he wasn’t going to ever grow a church. He knew God was going to do something through him that hadn’t been done before. When you manifest your purpose, you don’t have to pass your card out. Verse 24 says his fame went all about. Your works will speak for you. When you are doing it right, you don’t have to push it on people, they will follow you. Matthew 4:24: 24And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them. –Last time we checked, God’s goodness and mercy follows you all the days of your life. In the scripture, they started to bring people that were lame and sick in verse 24, and they left healed. You purpose is to solve a problem, not to be a problem. Whatever God is showing you will lead to a problem and you re supposed to solve it. You use the problem as an opportunity. You sit next to problem solver.
5. Jesus represents the people that have vision. Matthew 4:25: 25And there followed him great multitudes of people from Galilee, and from Decapolis, and from Jerusalem, and from Judaea, and from beyond Jordan. – The folk in the temple that got their needs meet (healing and etc…) they followed. Jesus did his job so well; his customer base went where ever he was. If God sends you to Ohio or port Maine, your purpose will always find you. Wherever the sole of your feet tread, God will bless you. What are you passionate about? You do the work. Get a big piece of construction paper or some paper and start writing. People often ask how they go about writing a book? Simply you just write. Ex – Bishop explains that he keeps napkins from the airlines he flies to jot down things God gives him. He explains that a lot of sermons that he preached have come off of those napkins. How much has God let come into your spirit and you let pass, because you didn’t write it down? Even if what you jot down ends up as just a large amount of fragments, write down what God is giving you. Every day ask the Lord to make your vision clearer. It is just like when you go to the doctor and they make you read to lines to check your visions. Some people lye because they don’t want to wear the bifocals. God says if you be honest and acknowledge it, he will adjust it so that you can see.

Manifestaions II, Sermon 09/13/09

Manifestations II
“It’s on the tip of my tongue”
Synopsis Sermon 09/13/09
Delivered by Bishop Walker III

Text: Proverbs 18:21: 21Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
It is essential that every believer understands the power of words. Words have power. In the natural realm they can hurt or heal ones feelings or attitudes. In the spirit world they are containers of the power that can change life or direct your future. They will literally allow you to get your life in line with God’s plan for your destiny.
Words carry God’s power to literally heal your body, bring unnaturally blessings into your circumstances and bring the promises of God’s word into the natural realm to bless you and your family. Everything that we are is really a result of the words that were spoken into our lives. Someone spoke it, we believed it, and then we became it. Ex- Someone said you could achieve, someone said you can overcome, someone spoke something either positive or negative in your life and you evolved as a result of the word that was spoken into your life.
There are many people that take words for granted, loosely throwing around words not realizing the potency that words represent. The text is the word that Solomon shares that indicates to us that the power of life and death is in the tongue. What is released out through the mouth can be the difference between deliverance and your demise.
This message is being preached today because God says there are many of you that have been waiting on him to move in your life. Things are not progressing at the pace in which you think it should. The reality is the answer to your dilemma is simple. You have been given a word from God in your life and now that word must be spoken over your situation. It’s really on the tip of your tongue. Your breakthrough is on the tip of your tongue. Your healing is on the tip of your tongue. Your miracle is on the tip of your tongue. If you can ever understand the transforming power of God’s word spoken literally over your life living within you, you will stop looking for the answer outside of you and recognize that the answer is already inside of you. It is waiting to be pushed out into the atmosphere and released over your circumstance.
I. Words create a climate
1. When you can walk into and room and listen how people are communicating, it will give you some indication of what kind of climate that they are in. Some people are very faithless (negative and irrational) and others have great faith (always speaking positive words). This is why it is so important to recognize that we represent the words that come out of our mouth. We have to be careful when we walk into crowds of people who are negative, who are naysayers, who are cynical, who are gossipers, and who are always speaking about other people’s business. The reality is they are creating a climate that can infect you. That’s why it is important to be around people that are speaking positive and who are speaking destiny and not about destruction. It is important to know that who we are represents what we believe and what we believe represents who we serve. This is why the enemy wants your words to be filled with negativity.
2. Our thoughts create our reality. In other words what we think is often what we speak. This means that there is just a matter of time when what is on our subliminal comes out to the audible. So what a man thinks, so is he. What happens is we begin to speak a thing and it creates our reality. What we say creates our reality. Ex-We hear somebody say “I am just stupid” or “I’m just slow”. If we continue to speak this, eventually we begin believing this and it becomes a reality in our life. Likewise, if we do the opposite of this like saying, “I am the blessed of the Lord” or “I am favored” or “I am above and not beneath” or “I can do this” or “I can accomplish this”, then you will create the reality of this. The devil loves to control your reality by what you speak by getting you to speak negative words, because if you continue to speak negative words, negative words become your conscious. If negative words become your conscious, then you will not be able to distinguish between things that are good or bad. In other words what you will begin to do is associate negative words with positive experiences not realizing that you are doing it, because you will be so inundated with negative thoughts. In other words you will see a positive situation and describe it with negative words. Ex- Someone asks how a person did and you respond, “They killed it!” You are saying they did great, but you used a negative word to describe a positive situation, because your consciousness is so inundated with negativity. We also say, “They murdered that thing!” Murder is usually a negative word, but in this phrase we are using it to describe a positive situation. How was the concert? “Man it was ill”. Normally “ill” in a positive context would be used to describe someone being sick, but in this example we used it to say something was good. We often use negative words to explain positive situations; because we are so inundated with negativity, our reality is a result of the words we speak.
3. Many of us need deliverance from the spirit of vulgarity or the cursing spirit. These are people that speak in tongues, but not the tongues of the Holy Ghost. Many of us need to recognize that this cursing spirit is a lack of self control. In Gal 5, it talks about the fruits of the spirit and we begin to look at the word “temperance”. Galatians 5: 25: 22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. – That word of temperance means control. The scripture talks about our lack of control. The Greek word there is egkrateia eng-krat’-i-ah (εγκράτεια) means strength or one holding himself in mastering their desires or appetite. We must understand that we must be careful when we speak. The bible says be slow to speak, because the enemy wants us to speak out of our emotions. That’s what gets us into trouble. We speak out of our emotions, rather than pausing and having devotion and saying Lord tell us what to speak, because if we speak what we want to speak, something will come out that we may regret. A lack of control leads ultimately to a lack of character, because now it represents behavior on display. If it comes out of your mouth, it begins to define the kind of character that you have in your life. The lack of character is an indication of a lack of Christ in your life, because there is no way you can represent Christ in the earth speaking like you are speaking. There is nothing you have gone through that Christ has not gone through. Not one time in the scripture did you see him using vulgarity, although there are many instances in the bible where if we were in the same situation, we would have probably cursed. Ex – If Peter would have denied us after all we had done and then he denied us, we would have probably cursed. If we had healed all these people and they turned on us, we would have probably cursed, but Jesus simply said “Forgive them for they know not what they do”. Jesus had a way of using his words wisely.
4. Understand the importance of a proper vocabulary. We have always been told that when people curse, it is because they don’t have the vocabulary to express what they are really trying to say. What you must understand is the power of life and death is in the tongue. We must understand that our vocabulary represents the word, it represents his will, and it represents our witness. That’s why we cannot act a fool with people, because we are trying to create an atmosphere, because of our relationship with Christ.
5. Whatever is in your heart will eventually come out of your mouth. Matthew 12:34: 34O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. – People say stuff and say they didn’t mean to say it, but the truth is they really didn’t mean for you to hear them say that. They really said it, because it was already in their heart. We have to get saved and recognize that a relationship of Christ is really an issue of my mouth and my heart.
6. Salvation is an issue of the heart. Romans 10:9: – 9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.- If you get your heart right, then the stuff that comes out of your mouth will be right. Psalm 119:11: 11Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.-The word is in our heart. We must then recognize the power of words. If we get our heart right, then our mouth will get right. We are trying to create a climate. This is why we have to get the right people around us and the right people speaking into our life, because whatever is going on in our life, our vocabulary now becomes a word vocabulary based on what God’s will is, based on what the proper witness is , rather than what people are trying to push us into believing. So no matter what happens in our life, we are creating a climate.
II. We must have confidence in our communication
1. If you are going to speak, there has to be confidence in what you are saying. You can’t allow yourself to be a spiritual introvert. What happens is many people don’t understand the value of the words that they speak. When we look at how God uses the word, we discover that God used words to create the world. The word has creating power, so words have the power to create. Every word that we use must be released with intention and purpose. Think through your words, before you release them, because you will release something in the atmosphere. Ex-A younger lad goes to an older man and says he has difficulty because I have said some things about some people that I regret. The young lad asked what he could do to make it right. The older man said you must go and apologize, but he says he wanted to teach him a valuable lesson first. He got a sheet of paper and writes some negative things about the lad. Afterwards he tears it into little pieces and he takes it to a window and releases the pieces into the wind. He tells the young lad to go and retrieve ever piece of paper that was released outside of the window. The young lad goes outside of the window and tries to retrieve as many of the pieces of paper as he can. He comes back in with less than 50% of the paper. He says he could not retrieve all of the pieces of paper. The old man tells him that this is how words are. When you say things about people, you cannot get words back once the words have been released. You have to be careful what you say about people, because the words that you speak into people’s lives can live with them for years. That is why we have to teach men that abuse is not just physical. It can be verbal. Verbal Abuse can be greater than physical abuse, so you have to be careful about the words that you use.
2. We must see ourselves as a vessel by which the Lord uses to flow through to bring to pass the will that he has for our life. This is why it is important to know the word of the Lord. Faith is produced by the word and the word gives us the ability to believe what the word says. The word of God contains the power within itself to cause what it says, to come to pass. If we believe Gods word, we use it in the way that God intended it to be used, then the word of God will begin to work in our life.
3. The word of God unlike any other text is a living document. The word of God cannot be separated from the Christ of whom we serve. Because Jesus died and rose again, he is alive and his word is living. Therefore when we use his word, he word is then active or moving in our life. Therefore, we must act on his word. Faith is an act and the best way to act on his word is to speak his word. Not like a coward, but having confidence to have boldness. This is why the enemy tries to shut you up. Ever wondered why when you are going through something you don’t want to talk to anyone? There is so much word inside of you, the Devil don’t want you to open up your mouth, because if you do, you could release something in the atmosphere that can turn your whole situation around.
4. There is an implicit authority ascribed to you based on the source of the word that lives within you. There is an authority implied, every time you speak. If somebody from of the back of the church would say stand up and come down front, each of us would look at them strange. You would wonder what possessed that person to come down front and ask you to do what they wanted you to do. If your Pastor would ask the same thing, because you have graciously given them the authority, you would stand up because you have given them authority of the moment. He asked the same thing as the example of the person in the back of the church, but the difference is your Pastor is sitting in a place of authority. If you go to court and somebody in an orange jumpsuit says stand, you would automatically think something is wrong. If the bailiff says “all rise”, then you would stand because you recognize the authority given to the bailiff. You give greater respect of his word, because of the authority that he represents. A lot of people are speaking, but you have to know who you are. The problem is the devil already knows who you are. That’s why he doesn’t want you to say anything. Do you know who you are? You are the head and not the tail. You are above and not beneath. You are a royal priest hood. You have a place of authority with your relationship with Christ. When you open up your mouth stuff happens. Matthew 17:20: 20And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.- Jesus tried to teach on authority. He says because of their unbelief, things happen. He says if we have the faith the size of a mustard seed we can ask that the mountain be moved and it shall be moved. Nothing will be impossible, because you understand your authority. Jesus was on ship and sleep and the disciples began to use the wrong words because of the storm. Jesus gives them a lesson on authority. He showed them if you know your authority, you can say peace be still and it will. It is all in what you say. Jesus goes to the grave of Lazarus and his sisters spent the wrong words (…if you had been here…). Jesus told Lazarus to come forth and he did. If you speak to what’s dead, it will come back to your life. Open up your mouth and speak to it with authority.
III. The word of God can change your circumstance
1. You will reap the fruit of what you say. This is the power of confession. When you can understand this in light of circumstances, you refuse to be a victim. This is how the enemy gets us. We walk around as if our situation is going to remain the way it is. If you are hopeless and powerless, God’s word for you today is that it is on the tip of your tongue. There is power to change your circumstance. We are not going to walk around defeated, when we know what the word says about our life.
2. When we speak God’s word, it is called confession. Matthew 4:4: 4But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. – Confession is a law. A law is a simple principle based on a predictable consequence of an act. We can predict the consequences based on the act or law. You don’t have to believe in the law, but it’s still a law. You don’t have to believe in gravity, but it is a law. You can’t say you don’t believe in the law and jump off the batman building, but we guarantee there is a predictable consequence of that act. Tithing is a law, so we can predict the consequence base off of your act. It will be the curse of the blessing. You don’t have to believe in it, but it is a law. Confession in the Greek is homologeo hom-ol-og-eh’-o. This means to say what has been said. The devil is no fool. He knows what confession is. What he tries to do is prevent you from hearing clearly what is intended to be said. If you don’t hear clearly what was the intent of what was said, then you will say what you thought you heard. You have 3 gates that enter your mind. It is the eye gate, the ear gate, and a mouth gate.
3. The bible says the god of this world (Satan) blinds the mind so that the Gospel will not come in. 2 Corinthians 4:4: 4In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
4. The devil tries to control what you see and hear and what you speak so he can distort the word you received. This will make you not able to homologeo. Romans 10:14-17: 14How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? 15And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! 16But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? 17So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. – If we can hear what God’s word is saying, it will produce faith to act on.
5. Confession brings possession. Revelation 3:22: 22He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches. We must speak it to possess. Ex- Bishop spends the majority of his time rehearsing for people what he just preached about. If you could ever get a hold of this word you will start homologeoing yourself. In other words you will start confessing God’s word. When you say what God says, you change the circumstances of your life with his word. You are not denying the circumstances; you are confessing what God says about the situation. Since God says he can’t lie, his word shall come to pass.
6. What is the formula? John 1:1: 1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. – In the beginning was the word and word was God. John 1:14: 14And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. – We saw the word that God used in creation and we saw that word wrapped in flesh and we beheld his glory. When we came into relationship with Jesus Christ a marvelous thing happened. God was the word that became flesh so that we could become flesh that becomes the word. God is the word that becomes flesh and because we are in relationship with Christ, we are the flesh that became the word. We are the walking word. Hebrews 4:12: 12For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. -Quick in this text means active. It is all about the heart. Isaiah 55:10-11: 10For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: 11So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. -His word is always on assignment.
7. How do you think God always has a tailor made word for you? It is because his word is always on assignment. So when we speak, we change our circumstances. Romans 4:17: 17(As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were. -We are stretching our right now and reaching toward our not yet. The word of God is so creative; we can change circumstances by what we speak. Ex- Grandmother had plant in kitchen. It kept growing and growing. She would be talking to the plant. It looked crazy. We inhale oxygen to live. Plants like us are an organism that needs oxygen for life. We exhale carbon dioxide. Research has shown that plants need carbon dioxide to grow, so what looks like a crazy thing to do (talking to the plant), actually contributes to the growth of the plant by the carbon dioxide she exhaled. The more she talks to it, the more it grows. You might ask why does your Pastor keeps preaching to you? It is because the more he speaks over your life, the more he keeps talking to you and like the carbon dioxide what he gives off contributes to your growth. You need to speak over your situation. We see you low self esteem trying to creep in our lives, but we know what the word says about that. We can do all things through Christ that strengthens us. It is on the tip of our tongue.
